Frustrated

Weather is finally getting nice enough to ride in my parts but due to the horrendous winter my road is totally covered in cinders. Don't think I want to try a right angle turn or I am going to low side....frustrated!

I did get out today only the second time since last October. Rode over the Iron Pony and bought a RAM Mount for my smartphone and a new pair of Olympia summer gloves (yea I have high hopes! ). The roads were half way clean so I took it very easy as there was no way that I wanted to start the reason with a crash! There was also an hours clean up after I got home BUT so worth it to get out! 5 hours on the bike! Glorious!! 56 degs and sunny. looks like I can go tomorrow and may get to ride in Monday before the weather closes in on Tuesday.

Like I told the girl when I bought the gloves it was get out and ride OR I'd end up killing someone! Been about ready to chew the paint off the walls all winter.

Or was that look THEN leap?

You're afraid of riding on pea gravel?

Go slow and walk your way out?

Cinders are the crap left on the road from the salt trucks, sand, salt and gravel. All on the asphalt. Just about like trying to ride on ball bearings. The really bad part is just when you think this are clear you run head long into a mess of Cinders right on line in a turn. Then you are in for a nasty ride! The best thing at than point is to go with the flow and hope you find a soft spot to land on.

Don't let this happen to you....last year I let cabin fever get the better of me and I got out too early

I hope you had some spikes in those tires.

I am lucky and live in the south east. I can ride year round, but this Jan and Feb have been very frustrating. There are no gloves warm enough.

Cheers!

That is a bummer. I take for granted getting to ride all year. And the funny thing is in the DFW area, I am cautious around here right now on main roads because of all the sand (it's was a long winter for us, tho' nothing like yours). I'm glad our freezes are pretty much done, and I will ride more freely after we get some good, hard Spring rains. Hope you can get out soon. Be safe.

Like time said....here in coal country in the Ohio hills, the salt trucks also drop burnt coal for "traction" when we get snow....the problem is when it is left behind it can be even finer than sand and is very dangerous. I would welcome pea gravel

Saw this and though "How do they know?"

I still have to get my tires changed and may have to take my big broom up to the problem corner to clean it up myself....snow is not welcome around Ohio anymore!
