Question Oil filter for 2012 v

Has anyone used one of these?
Not that there's any way of telling what the long term effects could be....

I run a Purolator gold filter on my bike. I forget the part # but its the exact smae filter as my truck uses. So I buy several when there is a sale. Honda Ridgeline is the truck you can look up if your interested. My lawn mower uses the same filter as a prius...

I've been using auto filters on my bike since the first oil change. Either Purolator PureOne ( PL14610) or Bosch Distance+ (D3323).

Pureone PL14610. The company is a reseller. They rebox other folks stuff. Hard to tell who actually makes it.

Used an amsoil filter and oil and someone on the forum said the filter can be too restrictive and bad for oil flow. Made too good. So next time I'm going to use a Walmart cheap filter. But of course syn oil!

Purolator Pure One PL14612 2.5" long. About the same length as the stock filter.
Purolator Pure One PL14610 3.25" long. The longer length means more filtering material.

Both about $5.00 or $6.00 at the local Advance Auto Parts store.

I was going to buy a filter for my V, from my supplier. He said "this is all i have", a Fram PH6017A. Further questioning reviled that he had heard of issues. After some research i found that there was a lot of negative feedback on the fram motorcycle filter. I have read that the ends of the element are cardboard and have broken up causing engine failure. I have used fram filters in my automotive business for a number of years and never had a problem. Years ago we could get purolator filters in NZ. At that time i cut a few filters open to check construction. Purolator had the best designed element out of the bunch. I used them for years, untill they stopped importing them. In the end i settled for a K&N filter for my V.

My local dealer wants $15 or a single Kawi brand filter Which I suspect is simply a rebranded filter from one of the big filter manufacturers.

I picked up one of these---a 3323--- its a little longer 3.25"instead of 2.50" --at walmart. it was 12 or 13 dollars. I normally change oil and filter around 800 to 1000 miles so I doubt it matters what filter I use. I wanted a longer one so my filter socket wouldn't hit the bottom of the engine before it grabbed the filter.

800 to 100 miles? Geez man. I'm not trying to start a huge discussion on OCIs, but these engines aren't THAT rough on oil. Modern synthetic oil and filters are wonderful things.

Someone told me that good synthetic like Amsoil can be good for 9k mls in gentle conditions.........dunno if I would trust it for that far though!

Motorcycles with shared crankcase/gearbox are very rough on oil.

If it's Goodtime, they also sell the HiFlo for about $9. I haven't had any issues with it.
