Looking for a new Versys

I want to get a Versys and i took a look at Kelley Blue Book for average prices for the 2008-2009 Versys and there values are way below MSRP. i am going to thedealer because i am trying to sell my scarabeo 500 right now so i will have to trade in that or finance most of it.So any advice on how to deal with the dealer would be greatly appreciated

2008 KLE650A Versys Retail-$5115
Trade-in $3520

2009 Versys KLE650 Retail-$5460
Trade-in $3910

$5460 for an 2009?
You can't find one for less than $7000 in my neck of the woods.

As far as being upside down on a loan, that is going to happen with any new vehicle whether it be a car, truck, or bike.

Have you checked local Versys prices at the dealerships? Its not uncommon for the Versys to be marked up way over MSRP in California. My 2009 was over $7900, Im in So Cal. Very few motorcycles are good investments. If you look at them that way you are going to hate what ever you buy. Buy a bike, be happy.

You will not find a brand-new-at-the-dealer 2009 Versys for the KBB pricing above. That $5460 price is retail for a pre-owned 2009, not new...unless you can find a dealer who is willing to take a loss, that is.........

OTD does that include tax?
I found 2 dealer ships here that still have new 2008 in stock, I would Imagine 2010's coming out soon I would hope they would really come down on a 2 year old bike.

Yes any OTD price should include all cost. The OTD price I listed covers the bike, registration ($150+ in Cal) and almost 9% sales tax.

X2 I would question any dealer willing to sell one below his cost(real or imagined)
Seriously, Southbark, I would question why anyone would claim to be able to trade
a scooter and 1550 dollars for the forums bike(which naturally we love) unless:
1) bragging or trying to one up us
2) blowing smoke
3) there is no 3

Ah, don't worry about that! The Versys is so fun, it'll make you forget about making the payments!!

A couple of dealers in the SV Bay Area seem to have gotten into a loss-leader price war. When they have 2 Versys (Versi?) left, they mark the less desirable color down something fierce.

I wanted green anyways.
