09 Versys in california?

Hi All,

I really want to buy a Versys... Anyone know if they are going to have Versys here in California in 2009? If yes, how soon can I get one?

Thanks.

I heard that they have to fit an evap system to the bike to pass California emissions. I think it will be available in 09

Hey Ca Versys Stalkers,

I just got back from my girlfriends work where Kawi is setting up a "industry, demo, wine and dine type thing". I rode over to check the motorcycles out as soon as she called. They had a Versys (with a Ca plate). It looked great even though I dont like red. I sat on it felt good but would need some tweaks since I'm 6'4". I'm going back tomorrow for a demo since they were still setting up. I guess it pays to know people once in a while. I will let you guys know how it goes.

Brian

Are you allow to bring friend (me )? Haaaa...

Take some pictures if you can...

Most important... Check to see (those little stickers) if it is CA emission legal... Or check with the reps... Ask them what color they will be offering...

THANKS!!!

Hey LA,
Where in Cali/ LA area are you?

I think the bike I saw today was one of the bike they used in San Diego last year when they had the media come out and ride.

I am in Hacienda Heights, just north of OC...

Kawasaki probably used the one from last year and demo it again...

See if you can find out any more information... I sold all my bikes due to recent divorce last year and just found out the divorce is final this week... I am ready to buy a bike as soon as possible and get back into riding... Really want the Versys... Might go with the Suzuki Vstrom 650 if versys not coming or take too long to come to CA.

I will see what I can find out.

I was looking at both the Stroms. I think if I went with one I would do the 1000. It does seem like the V-strom would make a better 2-up long distance bike but there is something about the Versys I like better plus I dont know how much my girlfriend will actually go with me.

I think the vstrom will be a slightly better touring bike... Versys is a much better canyon bike compare to vstrom...

I will not do as much long distance touring in the future... Versys will be best... Most of my rides are around town and canyon... Versys is okay for long distance tour if it need to be... Vstrom is good for 2 up... Don't know how that will be for Versys.

As for 650 or 1000.... With the gas price the way it is now... I will go with the 650... Good enough power... get over 50mpg...

Yeah... See if you can find out about the 09 california versys... Is it coming, and when... and color.

Thanks.

Damn lawyers!! The ride is a NO GO! I knew it was too good to be true. My girlfriend went up to the Kawi rep that said it was ok for me to ride to ask when I should come down. But he was standing with the Kawi "legal lady" and she got a pissed off look and said NO rides for the public! So I'm bummed now. But my girlfriend did say they will be demoing the versys at the Long Beach show in Dec.

I am pretty sure you will like it if you were given a test ride.

I am planning to buy the bike now... If versys is not out soon, I will probably go with something else.

Looks like California is going to get the Versys sometime in the future... They already have the California version maintenance guide in the Service manual already .

just talked with a local dealer here in No. Cal... he said they won't know anything from Kawasaki until the dealer conference third week in Sept... most likely soonest available for California - maybe December... most likely a price bump... looks like those of us in CA still have a bit of a wait... they should know pricing, colors and availability in just under 3 months time.

I can't speak about California, but I was told by a dealer in NYC today that the '09 should be out by "September or October". (This, after he said he was out, and that was for the year.)

2009 Versys

My dealer still has a couple he also mentioned that all of the 2009's were going to be red also. Maybe so he could sell me a 2008...
