That guy did great by not freaking out and maintaining control.

This guy is more luck than skill I think:

Angry

The Brit rider had amazing control (& maybe a bit of luck) in the unexpected motorway flood, but the Yank rider (who do we know who has a blue V in a state where there's palm trees) should sell his bike today & buy a bus pass!!

Neither of those guys were riding very smart. Yeah, the first dude did a better job at maintaining control, the second dude, just plain lucky (don't think it was a Versys though) but both seemed to be riding either faster than what is safe for the situation and/or way too impatient and both probably could have been looking a little farther ahead. Maybe the first guy would have been less surprised by all the water and would have slowed sooner and perhaps found a better road position (if he wasn't already in the best spot for the situation).

Glad they both made it out OK.

I'd have to agree, but it was NOT a Versys - it was some sort of 'crotch-rocket'.

Wow, that second dude is so lucky to not be in the hospital. I give that about a 1 out of 10 shot at happening. But all of us have had long odds and walked away from something.

This reminds me of the research that shows that we are always better off doing a panic stop than trying to swerve out of trouble. You can control the variables better, and be at reduced speed if you do hit something. If panic swerving like this guy did, the physics are really against you, and so is the rest of humanity and the physical world.

Glad he is fine!
