Hate those bugs!

They mess up a good ride in great weather! Windscreen, face shield, the
radiator, etc. Just venting!
I could go thru more tearoffs that Chad Reed!
Maybe I should mount a box of wetwipes on my handlebars?

Totally with ya, but I'll take cleaning them up over my experience this morning in a heartbeat...I somehow caught a wasp between my chin and helmet chin strap @ about 60mph, needless to say, he was pissed & stung me twice before I could get stopped to get him outta there! Fv<k the bug issues...one of the only downsides to motorcycling.

That sucks. I agree with there being more up-sides than down. Especially when the
weather is good. And at least I have any stings yet. Then there is the possibility
of a bird strike, or a canine crossing, etc. That's cycling.

For the really nasty bug splooge on your paint and plastic and radiator, try spraying a mild solution of hydrogen peroxide. Let it sit a bit then rinse it off.

Look at the bright side: bug mess on your bike means you're out riding it!

Oh man, the first two weeks I was riding I took a trip up to Brownsville TN (about 60 miles) on my cruiser with a 3/4 helmet - faceshield removed. About 30 miles in, WHACK - bumblebee at 70mph - right cheek just under the eye. Less than two minutes later, WHACK - right cheek just under the eye. I looked like I'd been in a bar fight by the time I got to Brownsville. But at least I didn't look like Jim Carey in "Me, Myself and Irene". "Great day for a ride "

so far this summer I've had 3 bees zing in to my helmet, right in the corner of the face opening (with shield up) and into the ear recess. No stings so far, but the damn thing seems to be a magnet for bees!

whilst riding along rural back roads last year, the exhaust note from my honda shadow startled some hens sitting on a wall. one took flight right across me. hit the windshield before landing with a thump on the ground and scurried away. bet she didn't lay any eggs for a few days after that incident !.

Last fall I had a jellow jacket or something hit me in the chest and get caught up in one of the straps for my backpack. He didn't get me when I was riding, thank God, but when removing my helmet when I got where I was going, he got me in the wrist. Didn't get a good look at it because I was freakin out. I will run like a little girl away bees and wasps.

Sarcasm is a privilege.......not a right.

08 Versys....1st bike and love it!

Same thing happen to me!!! Only difference is I got stung and spent the remainder of the day in the ER. Was a scary ride home due to the allergic reaction.

Can't help but wonder, would a higher windshield keep the bugs out of my face?

I think it absolutely would, and I am ordering one. Just got to research which
one is best. Touring with the screen would be annoying, and I want to ride
the Tour of Missouri bike route this Sept.
