windshield trouble

Hi guys. Just bought a 2012 versys. Love the bike, very happy I got off a Fz6. It came with a Tinted and I believe slightly larger screen. Still not much in the way if protection from helmet turbulence. My problem is I think the first owner stripped the bolts that hold the screen, they just turn, well one backs out. Is this going to be a hassle/expensive fix?

Any insight is appreciated

If it's like a 2013, all the bolts that connect the windshield use gromet type nuts that are removable. You just need to get on one of the parts sites or go to your local dealer and order the 4 pieces.

You could get Kawasaki OEM windscreen M5 16mm bolts and nuts, or choose from many available aftermarket sets.

As listed for 2006-2009 Versys 650:

Says the guy that didn't take the time to find the links and be helpful? I think maybe it's your accent, but I often fail to find the humor in your (humorous?) posts. It's not like Invader is arguably the most valuable resource for Versys info on the forum... Oh. Wait. Right back atcha.

The "nuts" are M5 Wellnuts. If you get 'em from Kawasaki you will pay dearly. After the are used they are difficult to get out. Easiest way is to push 'em through. To re-install used Wellnut you have to come in from the backside.

The well nuts you need are at the bottom of Invader's post. The bolts and nuts pictured are for 2009 and earlier. I found that the after market nuts do not stay in as well as stock ones IF they are not covered by the windshield. I wanted all of the holes filled to look better and make it easier to change positions faster. The stock nuts have a lip around the middle that keeps them in better but are harder to get out. Like Walter says, push them through and look where they land.

You can pick up a pack of these well nuts at most shop that deal with sportbikes. Don't order them from the Kawasaki dealership as they want over $9.00 each! I paid about $12.00 for a pack of 8 with bolts and washers.

Or was that look THEN leap?
