My wife purchased a 2002 Yamaha VStar 650 a little while back, and it appeared to have been poorly maintained. Two weeks ago we brought it to K's motorsports in Humble, TX to get a full service done. When I picked it up I noticed right away that the brakes hadn't been flushed and the oil was over full and still black in the sight glass. I was not pleased. When I drained some of the oil it appeared to have never been changed. I called the dealership and let them know my displeasure that apparently outside of cable adjustments NOTHING had been done. They assured me that the mechanic that worked on the bike was their best and that everything had been done.
To make things right with me they offered to do the whole thing again at their expense while I watched it all. That was done yesterday. It looks like everything probably was done the first time. Carb synch was perfect, valves were good, plugs were good. Looks like they just brain farted on the brakes, and didn't do too good a job of draining the old sludgy oil. It is all good now.
So I'd have to say the initial service was poor, but not a deliberate rip-off, and they did a real good job of making things right after. It did cost me a day, but as I'll explain next, it was worth it.
The dealer is selling Aluminum bars for $35 so I picked up a couple to try on my Bandit and a couple more for the Versys. Pretty good deal there I think. I also picked up a new but dusty Joe Rocket jacket they had in the back for years for $10. Awesome deal there, it is a significant upgrade to my current Joe Rocket jacket. That alone made the extra trip worth it.

Back Off! I'm Already Riding Way Beyond My Abilities.

Glad to hear they made things right. They could've said, "T/S, we did the work, prove we didn't", & you'd have a fight on your hands...
