Finally saw one

I joined your forum last august to learn more about the versys. I live on the Oregon coast in Garibaldi and drive to Astoria to work. Since then I've checked every bike on Hwy 101 and never saw a versys until a few days ago. A guy was getting gas on the south side of seaside and I pulled over and waited for him to get going, looked like I could get right behind him. Well he gets stopped at a light and five cars stop behind him.The light turns and they move out and I get my first look at the Versys in the wild. I get to hear the bike and check out the rider position and a look at his bags. I pull in six cars behind thinking this is gonna be great I'll get next to him up in Gearhart with two lanes and get a better look. Didn't happen. The second car in front of me decided to drive thru 35 mph Seaside at 20 mph,the Versys made the next two lights and was gone.Lots of bikes here on the coast every brand, every style only one versys in nine months of looking.Maybe I'll get another chance to see one here on the Oregon coast. It was a blue '09 and looked alot better up close than on paper or on youtube

I'm not sure how close you are to him, but a forum member has one for sale in Oregon...

Sheesh, if you wanted to see one that badly, all you have to do is ask. I'd be willing to sacrifice a little to ride down OR-53 and Miami River Rd. to Garibaldi on one of my outings...

My first thought was "heyyy, that's me" then you said blue and a few days ago. I was up there for the weekend about a month ago. I spend most of my weekends on the south coast.

I was just about to make a post titled "So Where Are They?" because I haven't seen a single Versys on the road in Southern California. I commute 125 miles round trip every day on major freeways and check out every bike I see and I haven't made a Versys sighting yet. I suspect it will be like when I bought my V-Strom in '03 it took me close to a year to see another V-Strom on the road. I look forward to the day when I see V's everywhere.
