LED running lights

Some time ago I bought two sets of LED running lights (Ebay), installing them on each of my Vs. They are NOT powerful (or focused?) enough for driving lights, but I was happy to use them as running lights to alert cagers.

Since I got back from D2D a week ago one of them 'quit' working (I thought...) so yesterday I got ready to check the wiring, only to discover that the LEDs are working - the front cover (for focusing) has come off.

Here are some pics for you. As you can imagine - I do NOT recommend these!

I will be checking out some I saw on another D2D's bike in AK....

I bought some Twisted Throttle Denalis the other day and I'm looking forward to getting those. A little pricey, but the quality seems to be there and Twisted is a great company. Sorry to see about those junk lights.

Eddie,

You mounted on the radiator guard with rivets? That's clever.

Did you have any vibration issues? Or do you suspect the failure due to poor quality manufacturing? At the risk of being accused of profiling, were the lights Chinese?

I have these installed on my V, 20$. (I'm talking about the lower LEDs, white LED bar)
8W each, with dimmer for night rides.

Thanks. Don't know if vibes were the problem.... As for Chinese - I SUSPECT.... At least I'm not out a bunch of $.

I bought them after a member posted up about finding them on E-bay.

Got an email from Whitehorse Gear yesterday and, among other things, they are offering Cree LED lights for $159 as I recall. Don't have it in front of me at the moment. They are a very good retailer and, in my experience thus far, they stock, sell, and stand behind quality products. For what it's worth.

Check out ADV Monster

Awesome lights, very good price compared to denalis and other name brand, 10% off coupon code "inmate", and these ones come standard with a dimmer and high beam bipass. That means you can adjust brightness to go with your running lights, but when you switch on your hi beams, night turns to day.
