Getting a 2008 versys with some questions?

I am buying a used 2008 versys with 60 miles on it (guess he just made it around the block and didn't want it?). It comes with the givi rack on the back with the a plastic box on top. How difficult is this to remove (the box) for when I dont need it?

Also, I saw some side mount storage units that looked like metal ammo crates that go on the side. Where do I get these?

For the engine guards, which do you recommend, I've seen a handful mentioned here.

Anything else I should get that will protect the bike like slider pegs or maybe a taller windshield (I'm 6'3").

Thanks and the forum looks great!

If the top box is like most, you just turn a key and press a button and it will pop right off.

I like the Hepco and Becker engine guards. They look like they will provide a lot of protection in the event of a tip over. And they're really easy to install (especially if your wife installs them).

I'm sure others will be along to answer more of your questions.

Those aluminum ammo can things are about $1000 a pair. The top box should pop right off, most do. Both of the options for crash guards are good. I like my SWMotech version because they look like they protect the engine cases better.
