ADV riding

Ha ha, if you do that with your Versys just make
dam sure you don't stall it! If everyone hasn't
visited the AVrider forum, you will get an eye-full.
I'm probably a little too old for serious adventuring
but being able to take other than blacktop roads
has always been a staple of my riding. Otherwise
why a Versys? Like so many four-wheel drive
trucks that barely ever see a mall speed bump...

Check this out for some great pics of 'them that's doin"

Very Cool

Steve

I bought a motorcycle because my wife said that I couldn't! Now I have two and she still says I can't have another one!

You can tell the guy is really an ADV rider and not a squid. He is on a GSXR and is actually wearing a helmet. (That makes sense in Houston...)

interesting, cause here in AZ I tend to notice that most of the sport bike guys Do wear helmets (though, usually with those beach shorts that scream "I wish I was from Cali!," and cut off t-shirts!)... thought the harley guys rarely have any gear of any sort....

I agree that more sportbike types wear gear than cruiser types, but here in Houston, it has become a fashion for squids riding literbikes to ride helmetless - they have a helmet, but they like to hang it from the helmet lock. Don't know why, but the Suzuki crowd seems to do this more. These guys invariably have 2" of chicken strip on their tires. On a tight road, I could leave their asses even if I was riding a skateboard. They have as much business on literbikes as I do flying the fookin' space shuttle.

Might as well run car tires

Last week was 'Thunder Beach' at Panama City, FL.
20,000 helmetless squids on ever more ridiculous
and insanely noisy show bikes. I got laughed at
a few times but the way I see it they're just helping
Florida keep the number one slot in bike fatalities...
