Raced a cbr600f41

Went on a ride yesterday with a buddy who has as cbr600f41, we were goofing off on a long stretch of road and he looks back at me and waves as if to say goodbye then he takes off, little did he know I was waiting for him to do this , I had already geared down and when he nailed it so did I, when he looked back expectin to not see me he was shocked to say the least when I had actually not just kept up but had gained on him , we only went to maybe 110 so I have no illusions of grandeur how big of an azzwoopin it would of been past that but he was shocked and I was riding a bit taller in the saddle.on a sidenote I must add he weighs in at 260lbs , I am at 160lbs

Always wondered how the V matches up with SS's all I have to compare with is a ZZR 1200 and well.... No comparison lol.

of course, that was not an actual race.

i had a similar experience when i had a VFR800. my buddy punched it on his VTR1000 and i matched him. he was surprised. of course, i kicked it down two gears while he did a top gear roll-on. had i done what he did, he would have sailed away. had he done what i did, he would have sailed away... or looped it.

In a world full of people, only some want to ride. Isn't that crazy?

My old sv1000 would blow the mirrors of my V, but I have a bigger smile on my face riding the V all day...and that's what it's all about.

Lovin every minute of it!

600cc four cyclinders suck IMO. They feel slow as **** unless you beat the piss out of them. On a track or above 50 mph different story.

I used to have a '62 Corvette with the 340 horsepower 327, and close-ratio 4 speed, 6 or 7 years ago. One day I was cruising up the Deerfoot Trail (freeway) in Calgary to take a buddy and his family for lunch. He was following in his hot-rod which had the engine from a '68 'Vette, also w/ a 4-speed tranny, and I could guess that he was planning to pull alongside and "blow my doors OFF".

The gearing in my '62 was high enough that in first gear I could 'pull' 10 mph/ 1,000 rpm, and as the red-line was 6,500, that would translate to 65 mph at red-line.

I was doing 40 mph (with one of his sons riding with me) when I noticed his "intent", so I shifted from 4th to 1st, revs at 4,000 to match the speed. If any of you have experience with solid-lifter 327s you know that it's ON THE CAM at 4,000..., so as he pulled alongside to hit his throttle - I HAMMERED mine! At red-line I shifted back to 4th, foot off the gas, holding 65.

At the lunch he said that he had NEVER been 'blown-off' like I had done to him, so I told him (backed up by his son) what I'd done....

Similar experience on a sunday ride with a WeeStrom, Ducati Multistrada and a Buell Ulysses.

Well, sorta. We hit a 3-mile long, 8% uphill section of Highway 67 (going north out of Deckers, CO), and the Ducati and Buell left us in the dust. My GPS said 92, the Ducati's said 131.

It was almost a fair race between the Weestrom and myself (he had about a 100 pound advantage on me though).

was talking to a friend about the race his buddy happened to be standing right there, his buddy asked me what I rode, I told him its a versys, his responce was "its a what" he then tells me how he would embarrass me with his bmw f650gs, I smiled at him and said just because its says bmw on the bike does not make it faster, I told him to do some research on his bike and mine before he himself gets embarrassed, besides the V being a faster bike (please note I didn't say more powerful) this guy likes to upsize his combo meals, he was such an ass about it I told him to put his money where his mouth it, when the race happens I will get video.

Hey... I've been through Deckers... Last July... Stopped at the Deckers Store for some coffee. Just a little bitty store but they had a very high tech coffee machine. I expected coffee from a percolator from out back hung over a campfire... But they had a big stainless steel box with about 80 buttons on it so you could dial up just about any coffee... latte... cappuccino... or just about any froo-froo cup of Joe you could think of... Really out of place... The gal there and I had a good laugh about the owner's massive investment in this very expensive machine.

They also had hanging baskets outside on the porch with a million hummingbirds...

Great riding in that neck of the woods!

that's awesome! pretty arrogant when you can talk trash before you know thy enemy! pls include prerace smack talk and postrace excuses on the vid! you should race for pinks then sell his bike on craigslist.

PS - "racing" on public roads is illegal and dangerous. please visit the local drag strip.

Sounds like fun, BUT I'm too lazy to race anymore. Racing's NOT hard work BUT getting back out of trouble after the Police catch you can be a bunch of work!

Or was that look THEN leap?

Back in the '60s when I was drag-racing my Triumph, but BEFORE I built the top-fuel bike, I was approached for street races many times (guess I was the "Top Dog" in Edmonton...). My response was "Come to the racetrack, and we can race there."

MUCH easier than trying to explain to a policeman....
