Some winter mods

Winters are long here in Wisconsin. Was able to get on the bike today for a short ride. Was sunny so I snapped some shots of my winter mods--most of the ideas came from this forum. Thanks guys for depleting my checkbook!!

She came out of the basement a little redder.

She's a wide-azz girl,,,,

Rox risers and a cheap $18 GPS mount. (flea bay)

A Powerlet to heat my vest and charge phone/I Pod, run air comp., etc.

Mr. Speedy is a friend of mine. Lowering link, mirror extenders, peg lowers, and kickstand pad.

Gilpro gear indicator.

Grip puppies, Kaoko throttle lock, Powermadd handgaurds.

Mike's touring windshield and the Madstad bracket.

SW Motech crash bars and a front mudflap. Dont have the highway pegs mounted yet. I need to figure out best spot for them. And an Algard lower engine cover.

Motolights from my old bike.

Other stuff was a Corbin seat, clear lens covers, and got rid of every plastic push pin I could find. Used bolts. And foamed the dash to fix the "buzz". And the $2 Home Depot radiator cover.

It was fun working on Lil Red. Now it's time to pound the living heck out of her.

Ride safe. Ride hard. Have fun. This bike is a delight in the twistys.

None for me. I am 5'8" and had the Madstad on max height. I only did about 80 miles tho. In fact, half of those miles were helmetless with a ballcap and the cap even stayed put. I am very pleased.

One must remember "buffeting" is a very relative term. YMMV

My darlin wife calls the V my "Lil Red Money Pit". I seem to be in a three year cycle. The fun part is starting over. It keeps me out of the taverns I tell her.

I dont think I am done farkling this thing yet. Close though. It needs:

Better tires. Something more gravel/dirt worthy.
A rear hugger. But I have the Speedy Lowering Link. It might be in the way.
A MotoFizz Camping Seat Bag. To replace my old Cabelas duffel. That old girl has some miles on her.

I just need the overtime Gods to show up. I think they will, soon.

What tyres are you looking at getting? I'm thinking of the Pirelli Scorpion Sync's at the moment, although it looks like in the US you have a lot more choice. Here in Australia can't legally fit anything less than a Z rated tyre on the V unfortunately, since the original tyre is a Z rated tyre...

I think a few people have fitted huggers to their Speedy-endowed bikes, just a bit of trimming required I think?

In any case, certainly an interesting bike

Nice job--I'm taking notes!

Was there enough slack in the wiring for the risers, or did you have to re-wire? And what kind of highway pegs did you get?

Man, you've been busy this winter. It looks sweet though. I just ordered the risers and a hugger. Farkling seems to never end.

Wow, look great.

Does that passenger backrest only work with a Corbin seat?

Tires? Havnt really thought about it much yet. But I am a big fan of Avon's. Will have to see what fits when the stockers go.

Hugger? I think the Skidmarx will work with some dremel time spent on it.

Paint? Nope. Uh uh. No way. I had a bud who works in an auto body shop do the six pieces "after hours". $200

Rox risers? The cables were long enough. No mods or re-routing was needed.

Corbin pass backrest? I spose if one was handy he could get it to work in the the stock seat. You would have to build a channel for it to lock in. I am not that handy.

Highway pegs? I got the black Rivco's. You can find them on the Twisted Throttle website.

Highway pegs look comfy Haven't seen them sold anywhere here in Australia yet, I do suspect they're illegal here, which could explain that...
