Touring Europe, can i recharge my DS?

Hi all,
Ive just got some bad news that i and my fellow truckers are to lose our jobs next month, and it doesnt look like i can get work elsewhere so i decided im going to vist every country in europe, east europe and a bit of northwest Africa ( i live in Ireland ) ill be gone for about a year on the road and i want to bring my Nintendo DS to play with in my tent.
Is there a way to wire up a 12 volt socket (cigarette lighter ) with a step-up converter or something? like whats in a car or the kawi 1400 gtr? im not very good with electrics, i dont even know if this is possible. I only want to recharge the DS battery with a 12 volt plug that goes in a 12 socket in a car when in driving my versys, will it flatten the battery, can the alternator handle it?
i have a lead with 2 clips on the end and a socket on the other (see pic) i got with a DC to AC 3 pin socket, but that seems too easy to just clip it to the battery, do i need a relay or fuse or something?

thanks for the input.

All you need is a car charger for that particular Nintendo and you can charge it while you are riding without a worry.

You want a cigarette lighter socket that connects to the battery more permanently than those alligator clips, though. Do a search here on wiring auxiliary electrical components, you'll see many different ways to do it.

I would wire in a powerlet plug and buy the adapter to plug into your device. Depending where you mount the powerlet you could charge it while in your tank bag or under the seat.

Yeah a cigarette lighter on the bike, and the Nintendo branded cigarette lighter adapter for the DS are what I would reccomend...
sholdnt be hard to install nor get a hold of... and hey! if you are gonna be in N. Africa this summer, PM me! I'll be in Tunisia/Libya for about all of July and August...
