Rode er home tonight now what

Picked up my new green V tonight. Rode it home in 20 deg F weather. I was amazed at how cold I was by the time I got home.

I'm a large guy 5"11" and 275lb. This bike handles me just fine even though I make it look small. Can't hardly wait for the first track day with this bike!

I have ordered the bags and color inserts from Kawasaki. I wonder how long it will take to get them.

I already have the SW-Motech rack system, swingarm spools, tank protector, handguards.

I don't know what to get next. Hugger, SW-Motech engine guards, more protective wind screen for cold weather, gps mount, mirror extenders.

Open to all sugestions.

Let the farkling begin.

After mounting the racks I'm going to get a bunch of SS washers and shim all the mounting tabs for the frame.

Start with heated grips. Then top of line protective equipment for you. Farkles need to trickle down, starting with your head! Oh, and you just bought a great bike- enjoy!

Haven't I seen you before?

Yo Mark, welcome! I recognize you from the MTF. Over there I'm "Tbirder". I guess we "W-guys" have to stick together.

Did you get rid of your Triumph? The Versys is great.

I would suggest the hugger, it keeps a lot of crap out of the back of the bike. I got engine guards also, but I'm looking for a bigger windshield. I would probably get that first next time.

Check out www.motowerk.com for the GPS mount andmirror extenders. He also makes a great kickstand plate/foot.

My suggestions would be the mirror extenders, footpeg lowering blocks and GPS mount from Speedy (motowerk).
Have fun.

OH YAH - and a Tourmaster Synergy jacket liner for those chilly days!

Alan!!!

I figured you were around here. I think you and I are the only V owners on the MTF. We are on to something with this bike!

I love the size and value and ease of maintenance of the V and that there is so much stuff to equip it with.

Here is an old pic from the 2002 Soup Run when you rode from MA to WI in less than 24 hours.

Yeah I still have the Trophy. I am trying to sell it to somebody I don't know. Over 80,000 miles. It has stranded me for the last time. My wife insisted I get a new bike so I did. I will miss the Trophy though, LD touring, canyon carving, weather protection and trackdays were all things it did extreemly well.

The MFT is the Motorcycle Tourers Forum.

The web site kind of shows history and events. The forum shows the culture.

The MTF is not a brand forum nor a style of riding forum. We do meet for lunch everywhere. Most on the MTF are IBA LD riders. (Iron Butt Association Long Distance)

I wish I had the time for all this, I'm still waiting for my new Versys and the weather to cooperate, I'm in Massachusetts that's why I was curious.
Thanks

Congrats on the new V, it looks great!

Welcome to the forum, +1 on www.motowerk.com. I have 3 of Speedys products, flat foot, mirror extenders, passenger footextenders and have seen his other stuff at his manufacturing plant-all first class.

Hee hee. That's my old beard! I gots me a goatee now.

Sorry to hear the Trophy was giving you trouble. My Tbird was starting to age to the point where it needed a lot of maintenance (seals, etc). Nothing serious, but I hated having it off the road so much.

Plus I like shiny new motorcycles.

The V is definitely up for anything. I doubt I'll get to a track day this year, but make sure you tell us all about it if you go.

I think there's plenty of "flower sniffers" on the MTF too. If anybody is interested, check it out. It's a nice friendly group with a high signal-to-noise ratio.

Hi Derick, I'm in Massachusetts too -- north central, near the NH border. Bones is from Mass too. We should get an all-V ride together when this [email protected] melts.
