THEY were right.

How many times have you heard some insensitive soul say something to the effect, "Ride that cycle long enough and something bad is going to happen."

Well, as I sit here typing with one hand, I hate to admit it, but THEY were right.

I flipped off my Fuji road bicycle two days ago and cracked my elbow.

When I get back on two wheels in a month or so it will be motorcycles only from now on.

Bicycles are too dangerous!

Those of us who choose to do something dangerous know the risks. I do not buy into the way of thinking that if I do it long enough, I will pay. Yeah, sometimes people get hurt but a lot of times they don't.

As far as "THEY", those Effers that like to throw comments around about the dangers we take would not know a good time if it dropped in their lap

Speedy Recovery! Heal well and get back to doing the things that bring joy to your life.

Glad you came out with minor injuries. People have to be crazy to ride bicycles.

+1 to most! I ride both and have for years!

I have wiped out, wrecked and been hurt. I also play hockey, wiped out, wrecked, and been hurt.

I do what I do because it brings joy to my life. Other people have said good god man are you crazy you are going to get hurt.

Alot of people are full of fear and put every move is into staying safe. I'll float the river climb the mtn. My choice other people that live in fear will always say you could get hurt. Thats what was told to them over and over!

Live and let live!

Fear not, live, be free, and be safe!

Here's your shirt: http://www.reaperwear.com/item/Tipto...e--4-col-99999

I used to do some serious mountainbiking in the mountains all through the '90s. Flipped, crashed and slid a few times. First day out with my new clipless pedals and I cracked 3 ribs. I was over a long way from my car and had to ride out because it hurt too much to walk.

For me, bicycles aren't dangerous. I am!

Speedy recovery! It's from my mtb crashes that I know the importance of gear - if a 30 mph get off in dirt on a bicycle can cause gloves and pants to be destroyed it stands to reason that a motorcycle crash at speed would be worse. I think many ngatt riders have never crashed a bicycle!

Ride To Live, Live To Ride....no, really!

Great observation but I bet you could substitute the word all for many.

BTW my post was a lame attempt at humor. I'm not giving up bicycles. I am going to get a pair of elbow pads like I see some dirtguys using which, I assume, will look dorky on the street but thankfully I'm way past that now.

Bill - don't forget ATGATT.

When I saw this thread, I figured you'd finally got your R1 shock on, and sorted out.

I've flown hang-gliders, paragliders, raced yachts across the Pacific, bungy jumped, suba dived and rode motorbikes. Not one single injury. Not even a bruise. Until I picked my 3 month old baby up and then screwed my back. Moral - don't have kids, they are very dangerous to one's health.
