new 08 versys

52 year old rider...riding for almost 40 years. Just bought a new 08 Versys. Had one day in the mid 50s here in Iowa last week and I put 100 miles on her. Not even close to broken in but I'm in love already. jim

Jim, if you don't mind my asking, what kind of price did you get? There is a dealer up here in Minnesota that has a left over 08, and I'm wondering what is a fair price.

Thanks,

Steve

Thanks! Glad to be here. Love the Versys. I can see it getting a following like the original Concours.

See I love that green (I'm drawn to ugly bikes), so if I can get a smokin deal on an 08 I'd take it, otherwise I'll skip it and go for the 09. Just hard to go an buy a bike when its 9 degrees outside...

I really like the all blacked out one...don't know where I saw it. I bought the red one because it went with my Tour Master jacket. (not really) But I did have a red EX 500 the first year they came out and really loved that bike.
Kawasaki does rock.

The 08's and 09's are the same except for the turn signals...is it worth $1000 for the color you want? That's your call.

Nope not worth a $1000!!! But at least I know what to shoot for. I have seen some out of state dealers advertising 2009s @ $6200 or so, and it might be worth $200 or so...

Steve

Where are they selling for $6200? The only firm OTD quote a MD dealer has given me is $7719. Of course that is just an e-mail quote. I was hoping some dealer would be willing to sell, OTD, for $7000. After all, they get a 5% hold back in April and this is a very bad economy.

Guys,

The V prices there are Excellent!
Total cost for a brand new V on the road including insurance and road tax is about US$ 15,000 here. That is without any panniers, only the bike.

No kidding! and I am not pulling your leg(s)...

Tim, check cycletrader.com there are internet deals out there. You might have to take a long trip though. Your price seems like list plus taxes. I am personally not worried about my dealers boat payments, so I can not see paying anywhere near list for this bike. The dealer does deserve to make a profit, but in this economy where so many people are taking pay cuts, why should a dealer be exempt?

What is your medium?

I mainly do steel. The bike below is not typical of my work but I love motorcycles and had to do a few.

An '08 Versys for under $6,400 is a great deal. And where is there a 2009 for $6,200? That would be a phenomenal deal, especially if it's green!
