17" Versys Shield from Madstad

Has anyone tried the 17" screen that Madstad sells with the adjustable bracket? One thing I'm not sure of is that they call it a 17" screen, but in comparison with the Calsci XL, for example, it goes much lower towards the headlight...others give a +X inches from the stock version (which means X inches above the top edge of the stock screen, I presume)...so how high does the Madstad screen end up?

I have the one that came with the Madstad, both of which came with my bike (purchased slightly used). I like the height and the Madstad lets you play with that quite a bit. I like that it uses the wider VStrom hole spacing because it meant I could easily attach a RAM ball on the stiffening plate for a really slick GPS mount.

I'm 5'7" and I still look over the top with the shield all the way up and pitched as close to vertical. If you want to look through the shield, get something taller.

What I wish is that the shape of the windshield bottom edge was parallel to the Versys headlight instead of an opposite curve. Not a huge deal, but if I were to replace the shield (assuming I don't like how it performs after more experience), I would look at a Mike's shield or a CalSci, which I think better complement the front end design of the V. The Mike's is available without holes so you can drill your own with the wider VStrom spacing.

Ok thanks. I don't want to look through the screen, but want to slope it back to maintain laminar flow as much as possible, and have the top edge just below my line of sight. I am 5"-11" with a 30" inseam. Sorry for my ignorance, what is a "Mike's shield"?

I got a great response from Mark at Madstad who told me he would be offering an 18" very soon, and that he would discourage going any taller if combined with the adjusting bracket (going taller would not be needed).

Relatively happy with the 17";
should be even happier with the
18" that Mark is going to send.
