Why I'm Glad I Ride a Versys

I was driving and saw a lowered Nissan ZX300 zooming around in traffic, weaving in and out trying to make time. I thought what a waste. The driving environment for most of us doesn't allow anywhere near the performance capabilities of cars or bikes nowadays. What good is a Ferrari or Porsche or Lambo in today's world? So I like the utilitarian nature of the Versys. It's fast, versatile, rideable on and off-road, and it has a great seating position. All the bike you need and not any that you don't.

Yep, and throw in economy and reliability and it's no wonder it's been BOTY. I was really looking at the new street triple r but, as you say, most performance machines can't been ridden/driven anywhere near their potential. The V is a winner in a number of areas and I still love mine.

Ride To Live, Live To Ride....no, really!

+1 on that.

Plus add that in almost every review/shoot-out with other bikes it is rated top, or "the most fun" or "the most bang for your buck".

i just got rid of a high performance bike and you have hit the nail on the head as to why I did it. The reality is that you just get yourself into trouble on todays high performance bike's (off the track anyways), I have way more fun on the roads, on the V.

And it's very cool looking. I get way more compliments on this one than I did my cruiser, and my boys and their friends think I'm the baddest dad around now (until I take a ride in my thong and half-shirt ).

By the way, speaking of performance (and I know this gets you "the lecture"), I did a 200 mile ride this weekend to Possum Kingdom, TX and got it up to 118 on the speedo (tho' I know it reads high and I was carrying 230 with me and luggage). I also found a couple twisty FM roads and easily kept up with a couple sport bikes, tho' I don't know the riders' experience.

It's easy to like this bike.

Love the Versys. Only issue for me is that they stopped selling them here (South Africa), so in a few years I'll be forced to buy something else.

The day I chose to add the Versys to my stable, I was at a Kawasaki Ticket to ride event. I rode the Ninja 1000, the Concours, and some cruisers. Then the last ride of the day was on the the Versys. It put a huge smile on my face, and I purchased one soon afterward.
