Any difference between 08 and 09 besides the color?
Thanks
As far as I can tell, NO. and I have been reading a lot about this bike...

I would still choose the Green though with that regard because it is a new color so at least you know you are getting a bike with new plastics and a bike that has been assembled recently.

I think the Blue doesn't have the black trims because they are just using the left over parts inventory from prior years...

I am not sure if any of the Versys prior to 2008 have rubber engine mounts.
I know they already had rubber foot pegs so that doesn't count.

If they don't that is a shame because the new 650R and ER6N did get a revised frame with engine rubber mounts while the only new thing about the Versys so far for 2009 has been the green plastics.

Also, I know that the dealer and MFG always claim that the new year bike were start to be assembled at the end of the prior year... Well, I still like the feel that if I buy a 2009 bike, that it states 2009, no 10/2008 for example. I wonder if any of the blue ones do say 2008 while the green ones say 2009, that would be a funny give away to clue all of us in what they are doing...

No real differences besides color. Even if you got a left over brand new on the floor '08, it would still be a brand new bike & a great one to buy, no matter what conspiracy theories may have been previously alluded to...

"new plastics" and "assembled recently"? What are you talking about? There's no best before date on these things. Oh, to answer the original question, the front brake master cylinder is a different shape, a little more racy looking. A case of form over function, nothing else (i.e. no performance improvement).

I thought they added another engine mount to the bike in 09- trying to reduce the buzz at 4000ish rpm. It this just rumor and urban myth?

I know that is a fact that the 650R and naked ER6n are getting a revised frame with rubber engine mount.

There are no rumors about the Versys, for 2009 the Versys did not get any Frame Revisions.

At least the website is not advertising it or making a big deal out of it as with the other two...

But it could also be that the Versys frame already has rubber engine mounts, not sure, others here can verify that...

Ya know, I have had so many crap bikes, the Versys- with or without an extra rubber motor mount, is a smokin' smooth bike.

I don't see any rubber mounts on my 09, and don't need them, really.

...your 'avin a larf, aren't you.

or do you think that bikes destined for the US are made in a totally different factory from those destined elsewhere (even Canada).... with different suppliers.

Green has been used on the Versys from the date the bike was first launched (2006) on, although its been dropped in Europe for 2009.

I Posted here because I went to see a Kawasaki dealer (good friends) I wanted to see the new Versys (green or blue) No luck, but they have a Red 08 on the floor, and they are offering a good deal.

That is why I wanted to know if there was any difference between the 08 and 09.
If I don't get a good deal I may wait for a green one!

Thanks

Buy the '08

I went through the same thing in Nov. 08. I didn't know if I should wait for the '09? Once I found a dealer with an 08 in stock I couldn't resist and bought it. I got a great price, must cheaper than the 09.

If you can get a good deal on the '08, then buy it; there isn't any good reason not to unless you really don't like red.
