What about insurance?

How does the V compare to other bikes as far as insurance goes?
Will they consider it a sportbike and charge alot more than the Sportster im considering?

Also, what type of coverage do you recommend?

It really varies from company to company & region to region, or so it seems. You're probably better off calling around & asking for quotes. You'll get far more accurate info that way...

If you can get your insurance company to see the Versys as a dual sport like the KLR-its much cheaper. When Kawasaki first launched it in the US, they called it a dual sport. They've dropped that name in favor of sport bike.

I'm with Progressive and they see it as a sport bike and hence its more expensive to insure.

I think the Versys falls into a fairly low risk category.

I am with Foremost Insurance. I would recommend that you give them a call.

Naturally every one has different factors that influence the rate you get. Just as an example, My 08 Concours 1400 is $209 per year, the Versys is $98 per year, and my Whizzer motorbike is $31 per year.

The Connie and Versys are both full coverage 250 deductible with roadside and towing.

One thing that will influence your rate to a large degree, is your credit history and rating. If you carry a lot of credit card debt, loans, and have make inquiry recently into borrowing more money, you will not get a very good rate. They figure if you owe money, you are a greater risk of making a claim in order to pay off some debt.

I am 68 years old, never made a claim against a company for motorcycle or cars, live in Cheyenne Wyoming, and have no debt. All that gives me a good rate.

Being in the younger age bracket is high priced also.

Anybody else think these buffalo wings taste a lot like chicken?
