The modding (a.k.a. "farkling" has begun!

I've only had her for a week, but brown boxes have been showing up!
So far I've received:
Givi v35 side bags and v46 topcase
SW motech crash bars
R&G Tail Tidy
MRA windscreen
Denali lights with SWmotech mounts
Cox radiator guard.
Kawasaki low gel seat (on it's way, thanks ultra!)
Motowerks lowering kit (if the seat doesn't make it low enough)
Pyramid hugger in transit

I'll start installing things hopefully this weekend. I still have some things to square away on my gixxer before my first trackday of the season in May.

I was just working on my Honda CBR 929 this evening, so I can (sadly) put her up for sale.

I've always modded my bikes. With the sportbikes, it was all about performance and suspension mods. With this bike, it's more about making it a tourer.

I feel like I've come full circle. My first street bike in 1986 was an '82 Yamaha XS650 parallel twin. After it, came a Yamaha FZR 600, a Ducati SS SP 900, Honda CBR 929, Ducati Sportclassic, and my current trackride, an '07 gixxer 600. Now I've just bought the Versys..a 650 parallel twin!

I just see no purpose for a high power sportbike on the street any longer. Too uncomfortable for me now that I'm older. I'm going to enjoy the upright seating position of the Versys, but also the good handling. It's what made me pick it over the V-Strom 650. It's getting warmer out, and I can't wait to put miles on.

OH, and you'll like the Vesrah pads, weljo. I've been using the Vesrah RJLs on my trackbike the past several years and I love them.

Good Deal, They arrive tomorrow. Forum member Invader recommended them. Having them installed next week while i have the bike in the shop for a throttle body sync and valve clearance check.

Haha, well, I'm going to put a hugger on, so that'll help. That stock mud flap hangs down so low I can't get a paddock stand in under the spools!

I've done the home-made hacking the tail route on some other bikes I've owned. Hmmm, that may work, too!

I can use bike stands no problem with my stock fender. Its nice not haveing a mud strip up my back.

Odd. but my Pitbull stand won't go under the mudflap. A stripe up the back, huh? Again, odd, as I've removed the stock mud flap from every bike I've owned and not ended up with a mud stripe up my back when riding in the rain. Does the Versys throw water up and over more than other bikes? If so, I'll re-think the tail-tidy, but honestly, I've not noticed that on any other bike, as long as they've had huggers, and I'll be putting one on the Versys.

Yeah I like the functionality of a fender.

If I wanted form over function, plenty of other bikes I could have chosen.

One advantage of not chopping the tail is your bike remains legal back there. Most tail chops here violate one law or another--usually missing or insufficient red rear reflector, or turn signal distance. Sometimes license plate issues (location, orientation, attachment, illumination).
