Best (or good) tank pad or protector

I'm about to enter my second season on my 2018 Versys 650, and I should probably get a tank protector pad. Is there a consensus about what seems to be the best for the 2018 model? I won't be using a tank bag, so is it even really needed?

Here's a universal one listed on Amazon.

Or put another way, is there one you've purchased that doesn't fit? Or you don't like for some reason?

Pro Grip tank protectors seem to stay put. Mine is scuffed up pretty bad already after 10 months but I ride every day.

I see no need for the "carbon fiber" ones, but I do have a tank pad on my motorcycles.
Unfortunately, the rubber ones don't seem to stay stuck toth4e curved surface of the tanks.

I plastidip the whole tank (5 clear coats)
then use showroom shine to minimize the matte finish and keep a good color.
Peel and redo every 2 years.

Here is back when I only did half tank (shows well the contrast, without showroom shine):
Can you guess when was the picture taken?

That's what I use - keeps the tank looking good. Sorry - NO pics. And I don't worry about gripping the tank, as my knees contact BELOW it.

I've used these on my last 3 bikes, including my Versys: Mag-Knight Magnetic Motorcycle Tank Pad - Motorcycle Tank Protector

The great thing is that they come right off for cleaning/waxing the tank. The universal shaped one fits the Versys tank very well.

See Kawasaki Versys tank pad 2015

That's what I have on mine.

Good luck!

I still have a full deck.
I just shuffle slower.
