I realize this "What I Did..." is from June of 2019 but my son, J, gave me the video he shot of our trip to Baja at Christmas so I thought some of you may like to see what the place looks like. I was on my Versys 650 and J was on his 1200GS. I'm still waiting for him to finish the second half, from Cabo to Tecate but here's what I got. Here's the link.

Went to a "Twists and Tuurns" training just down the road. Its to teach you slow riding.First task ride in an oval with your right hand on the tank, try it.Then through some cones with corners and circles. All this in 1st gear, some revs, clutch slipping and rear brake. Then a course with tight turns circles etc.One of the instructors showed us how on his BMW k1600,made it look easy. One guy did it on his er6n Kawasaki without getting close to a cone.Me? some of the cones were road kill.Still a fun day out, gotta go and practice.

Happy riding

Did 1450kms this weekend down south to the Drummond Rally, excellent warm weather all weekend, last week a closer rally up at Waiau and next weekend over to the West Coast to the Woodstock Rally, lots on around here at this time of year.

HOW do you do it? Set your idle to higher RPMs first?

I rode about 125 miles round-trip to the "Pavillions Show and Shine" in Scotsdale (used to be called the McDonald's Show and Shine), and took some pics of some neat cars, including the smallest one I've ever seen

and it's ACTUALLY a Vespa...!

Plus a few others....

Great pics Eddie! Looked to be a great event.

It's been swell, but the swelling has gone down.

Kinda cute tho', isn't it...?

Here's a pic of a SERIOUS HP maker for your enjoyment - the original Corvette mechanical FI from a '63.

I looked for this 'set-up' when I bought my '62, but couldn't find one, so bought the 340HP carbureted 327 one - SAME engine, cam, pistons, etc but w/ a Carter AFB four-barrel, and 6,500 red-line.

actually it was yesterday. put in an led for the low beam. i wanted to see how my rubber boot surgery would be in the rain. luckily i got a 90 minute ride home today and it was perfect. also did the volt meter/usb gadget in the hole on the right wired to the bullet plugs available under the windscreen. i mounted some led driving lights to the sw-m light mounts but didn't like the wiring kit i was using because it was always hot. after i put it all back together i remembered the switched power supply on the left side and i have the correct plug adapter thingy (thanks eastern beaver). next weekend i'll either do that or the rear tire.

Swapped out my Ascerbis single-point handguards with some eBay two-point guards last night. Went out for an hour ride today to test them and some new riding pants. 45 degrees, and a mix of sun and rain made for a nice ride complete with a rainbow. Handguards and new gear worked great. Thankful for a place I can ride year-round if I wear appropriate layers

Here to learn.

I work from home on Mondays and Fridays. Today, I had to run some errands at lunch. It was 60 degrees, and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. I took my Versys, because I'd be crazy not to! I nearly didn't go back home.

Finished up a little maintenance.

Replaced the chain, both sprockets, and installed a new SHINKO E705 rear tire (which MIGHT be my last tire-change - just took TOO long, so not a lot of fun!).

Went for a short ride in between rain showers, found this sign along the road. While I hate people throwing ANYTHING out of their vehicles, this person seems to have a pretty specific Target in mind...

Edit: That photo won't win any awards. Alot clearer on the phone before posting. Red lettering says "Coors".

Perfect Saturday here in N. California to wear some of those flat spots off my tires. From Livermore down Mines Rd then San Antonio Valley Rd (CA 130) and up to Lick Observatory on top of Mt. Hamilton. 140 +/- miles. Temps in the mid 60s - lots of bikes out today.

When I got home I had an ear ache, which went away 15 minutes after arriving. Not sure if it's from the wind, noise or my helmet (Scorpion modular) which fits pretty snug. Anyone out there get ear aches from riding?
