aftermarket sprocket?

I have a 2009 Versys 650 that came with a bunch of farkles and aftermarket additions and was wondering if the sprocket was original or not. Anyone with a 2009 650 out there care to comment? - in 6th gear on a level road I am getting 64 mph at 4500 RPM. (I know that I am in sixth if I am doing 65 at 4500...)

Take a look at the rear sprocket,it should say how many teeth. My 15 650 stock was 46T,changed it to 44T. Also take a look at the front sprocket, count the teeth. Some riders change this also.

I would say that your bike has STOCK gearing, as on MY '08 w/ STOCK gearing I get that amount of revs for 65 mph (worked backwards from 70 mph @ 5,000).

I figured you'd chime in fasteddie, as I know that you have an '08. Thanks for that.

Not trying to hyjack the thread, but how do you like the 44T on the back? I'm getting ready to buy a chain and sprockets and am planning on going with 44 on the rear and keeping stock 15 in the front.

I don't care what you ride, just ride.

If you search this topic on the forum you will find many opinions on sprocket combos on the 650. Based on that research,I went 15/44. Works great for me as a mostly pavement rider but you have to work the clutch more to get going. Got the Shodabeen flash as well, its more roomy for power down low on the 2015 now.I wouldnt go any taller personally and its a little dicey for dirt riding, as Ed pointed out.
