Sold my Versys after nearly 90,000 miles

I haven't posted here in a long time, though I used to be quite active and benefited form a lot of good information here from fellow Versys owners. In case anyone is interested in the ending of my personal Versys story, I recently wrote about it. If nothing else, it's reassurance for most of you that the Versys will last a long time.

After eight years, 11 months and 89,941 miles, I sold the Versys to a relative of a co-worker. Here's the story of my last ride and how my Versys ownership came to an end.

Whitehorse Press is going out of business so it's time for a final sale. Signed copies of my book are now $10 with free shipping in the U.S. while they last.

Mine (an '08) has 85,219 miles, and, like the "energizer bunny" - just keeps on goin'...! (This pic was taken back in '10 - a buddy owned the KLR...)

Going back to read your last-ride article.

Great write up on "Here's the story of my last ride". Sounds like you are not replacing your bike. My guess though is like many others on this forum you will eventually get bike fever again some time in the future!

Good luck!

Oh, don't worry, bike fever is a lifelong affliction for me. I'm not immediately replacing the Versys, but that's because I still have three other bikes in the garage. Unfortunately, none of them are very well suited for the work-related 500-mile days I do several times a year. So I will have to replace it at some point.

Right now, however, I'm on an extended test ride of this Versys 1000 SE LT+. Unfortunately, I don't get to keep it forever. Not even much longer, actually. But for now, it's doing the job my Versys used to do.

The V1000 SE LT+ should fill the need nicely!

Nice story Lance.

The only bikes I wish I never parted with are because of how modified they were and not because of the memories I created with them.

I love to try different bikes and the riding experience that they bring.

Thanks for sharing. It’s good to know the Versys is a robust bike. I currently have just over 20,000 miles on my 2016. Looking forward to many more miles of fun.
