Oil change when you have a skid plate installed

Just wondering-

How much does installing a skid plate interfere with changing the oil, and in particular the oil filter? Does the skid plate have to be removed to get the filter off?

Thanks

I have the SW-Motch skid-plate on my Gen 1 '08, and YES, it MUST be removed for both.

On my Gen 3 '15 V650, because of the drain-plug being horizontal vs vertical in the '08, AND the one-piece exhaust 'protecting' the underside of the engine (somewhat), I haven't installed a skid-plate.

I have the updated T-Rex racing skid plate, and all you have to do is just remove 4 bolts to undue the skid plate for an oil change including the oil filter. Not a big deal.
