Log in every time?

Recently ran the antivirus and disc clean up program on my PC.

Doing so logs me off all forums and I have to log in when I first visit their site. I stay logged in after that...except this Versys forum.

It was not this way before and behaved just like all the other forums I stay logged into.

What happened and how do I fix it?

I'm having the same problem with being logged off this forum frequently but not every time. I'm not running antivirus. Apple iMac, latest OS and browser.

I'm wondering if it was due to a software update on the forum. If you are idle for 10 minutes or more it kicks you off to help relieve bandwidth congestion on the server???????

Hello IT guys????? What U think?

I am guessing that you are correct.
In mid June VerticalScope transferred to Google Cloud and also installed SSL for site security - hence the https: above - which was previously http:
We now have to wait while the "transition techs" sort out all the bugs.
Have you noticed that your likes button now takes you to your "user CP" page, rather than your "likes" page? The quick fix is to click on the blue number of your total likes in your "mini statistics" box. It's all the same but worse at Stromtrooper.com

I think IT guys and software developers have to justify their existence by constantly changing a programs format and function.

Problem is we the end users just get comfortable with the latest "update" then along comes the "new improved, de-bugged version" and we have to go back to school once again. It's a never ending process. Kinda like hopping on a merry go round where you are stuck for life and can't get off.

Sorry had to vent...there now i feel better.

Logging In / HTTPS

This has come up before with another mod. I use both Chrome and FireFox, 2 computers. I save my log in info but had to delete both browser info, in the case of Chrome , delete history for all time. As to being logged in, my laptop is logged into this site for hours, not sure if inactivity kicks you off. Everyone posting here should start a thread here https://www.kawasakiversys.com/forum...akiversys-com/

In the interim I have a couple hours to wait on something else so look for testacc in this thread.

Work Order Pulled

This is the content of my post:

I used my Testacc login , several complaints about losing their logged in status. I tested that today, 1 hour and 3 minutes of inactivity and I was no longer logged in. This seems extreme, as I often need to do other activity on my computer while being logged into this site. What is the time out set at and what can be done?? Below is the thread:

Glen - FWIW - today I 'logged on', then checked my "Private Messages", then back to the Forums.

EVERYTHING was then shown as already having 'visited'. Bit of a PITA going to the individual threads to see what time the latest posts were done....

Yes happened to me also, also the whole site has been down for 5 minutes several times, they are working on it. Baby steps here, also been a couple times where there are 1.5 hour gaps, nothing posted or updated. Like I said baby steps.

Thanks guys for your due diligence regarding the matter.

It's not the end of the world, just a bit of inconvenience for those like me who are a tad short on patience....Lol.

Time Out / New Posts / Reset ?????

The site is currently set to timeout after one hour. This is actually a pretty standard duration . I think the issue is that the "Remember Me" function has been a bit buggy since the migration and SSL implementation, more so than the setting of the session timeout in the back end of the site. KawiMan has noticed this happening on some of Vertical Scope's other sites as well, so it's being looked into.

Going forward, the best bet is to try clearing the cache/cookies, re-select 'Remember Me' and sign in again. You should also make sure that, if visiting the site from a bookmark or favorites list, you will need to update the bookmarked URL to include https.

Further I am asking all members that use New Posts Last Day / Last 2 Days , to pay attention as to the viewed / read/ reset of this part of the forum. What I have found is, logging in and reading a PM resets the New Post, viewing Likes also resets the New Posts. A work order has been pulled to look into this, FYI I am using FireFox as my prime browser. Anyone notice anything else strange please post it in this thread, as it is now a stuck thread no wise cracks either

Ok here is what fixed the problem for me.

My bookmarked URL before the log in trouble began did NOT include https:

So I deleted that old URL and made a new one that included https:

After being off the site all afternoon I just clicked on the new bookmark for this site and presto...problem solved.

I was also having the exact same problem on the FZ09 forum site. Did the same fix there and it too now keeps me logged in.

Time for a victory lap, cuz at my age anytime you can beat the technology monster you feel like a real winner.

As has been mentioned, you need to delete the link from your desktop / favorites--do a kaw in your search and once there , click remember me, although there appears to be remaining problems on this new site, I just tried using my testacc account and everything was shown as read . In the mean time can you post your browser and operating system. I am primarily using windows 10 and Firefox and using my Firefox / Norton to remember some passwords.

FYI I am having the same trouble with READ posts and the login check box remember me does nothing in Chrome or Firefox, so I updated the Staff post for Admin to look further into this

Fortunately my saved login in FireFox works as I have 3 for this site as a mod.
