Upgrading gen 2 to a 2018 gen 3

Hey fellas. I have a 2011 versys that I enjoy a lot. I've had the bike for a few years but I'm getting a little bored. My complaints are the buzzing doing 80. I feel like the bike is working a little too hard and reving a lot at that speed. Wind protection could be better but with my large parabellum screen I'm ok. And overall looks, let be honest it's not a sexy bike.

So I'm considering a few bikes. Vstrom 1000 but the price is high and there aren't any used ones, FJ09 but they have issues as well, and a new versys. Everything I love about the old versys but sexy looking.

Are the updates that much better. Is the engine smoother with the rubber mounts? Suspension better? Wind screen options and overall wind protection? I'm commuting through NYC traffic and then 20 miles of freeway. I rode 12k a year and never off road. Thanks guys.

Did you consider the Versys 1000?

I really like my versys. Its about the perfect seating position for me. My only complaint at all has nothing to do with the "bike" I just detest chain maintenance. I'd buy a Versys 1000 tomorrow if it were shaft drive.

Not ready to upgrade yet probably another year or so, but my next bike will be shaft. Debating between the 1200GS and the 1200RT from BMW also Super Tenere is another I'd consider but haven't ridden one yet.
I love my 2011 650, just put too many miles on it (2,500-3,000 a month).

Yes. [PLUS better fuel mileage w/ another L or so of gas!]

Yes. PLUS an added bonus - when you need to remove the 'fairings' for maintenance, or whatever - it's MUCH easier!
