Manotoulin Island Tour

Finally some stable weather this week so leaving on a tour in the morning from Palmer Rapids to Tobermory, across Manotoulin island, then Parry Sound and home. Three days, approx 1200 Kms. Great 1st mini Trip on the Versys.

With 2 days more notice I might have offered to join you, make a point of following Grey Bruce 1 from Owen Sound to Wiarton ,Plug in Balmy Beach, the road is Second street west in Owen Sound https://www.google.ca/maps/place/Bal...2!4d-80.946188 there is a beautiful lookout point at the turn east at Kemble Rock Rd and Grey 1

My longest ride last November 29, started in Kitchener through Bancroft, to Barry's Bay the through Algonquin / Huntsville back down through a similar route you have to Stayner, then Airport road and home, something like 900KM

When on Manitoulin Island, it is worth exploring the interior and northern roads.

Looks like a fun ride. Canada must be a beautiful place to ride in the summer months.

If I made that loop I would probably get several speeding tickets due to HRHS...heavy right hand syndrome.

Or cruising at the typical 80 kph or 50 mph I would have to be cautious not to fall asleep and run off the road...Lol.

Would love to see some pics of your ride.

Every visit I make to the island must include the Mississagi lighthouse. The campground there is fairly empty and in disrepair, but the sites are fairly private. The gravel road can be dusty, but is usually in decent condition. Lots of fun on the V.

The run up highway 6 from the island to Espanola is also a must.

Nobody drives the speed limit here. In an 80 kph zone, I find that the LEO's leave me alone if I keep it under 100. On the 100 kph highways, generally, 120 is ignored.

But don't blame me if a grumpy cop tickets you.

Good to know if I ever make it that for North. Thanks!
