Just found this beauty:

I'm still not sold on the color generally, but damn does it look awesome in this setup!

That's sharp! I like that darker, olive-drab paint. Looks great with that luggage set-up.

Yeah, the luggage boxes and especially the tires go really well with this color.
Something about it reminds me of army vehicles and it simply makes sense!
I guess that's why they named it Special Ops.

Holy Pounds Sterling Batman! It's listed 8495 Pounds which translated to $11,707!! "Special Ops" or not, that's a bit steep.

Comes with heated grips-- they maybe engage a secret cloaking device, hence the extra charge.

Not really. In fact, it's 4 cheaper than the stock Grand Tourer and that's not including the quality (and extras) of the aftermarket stuff.
Brand new Versys 650 Grand Tourer costs 8499, with stock tires, stock windscreen, stock plastic luggage boxes, no crashbars and no heated grips.

Special Ops has Pirelli all-terrain tires, better windscreen, much better alloy luggage boxes, crashbars and heated grips.
The only thing Special Ops doesn't have compared to stock Grand Tourer is a 12V DC socket (which costs less than 50 with the relay).

So it's actually a much, much better value for money. And it's even technically cheaper. If anything, I'd say stock Grand Tourer is a bit steep compared to this one.
At least when we're talking about the UK market where this is being sold.

Kawasaki Australia has released the same color option on the X300 dubbing it the "SE" version.

That is sharp, and looks to have a lot of bells and whistles! I dunno 'bout the price...kinda reminds me of the SV650XT. Cool bags, cooler body treatment, SPOKE RIMS(!), but at over ten grand I just shook my head and walked away. Now if that package added another 5-15 horsepower...maybe.

The fact that it's quite a bit over the base model's price is undeniable. I'm not gonna sit here and pretend otherwise.
However, like I mentioned, Kawasaki's stock Grand Tourer is even less value for money if you compare the two.
Personally I bought the base model, because obviously I didn't like Kawasaki's pricing for what I was getting.

So if anyone is ripping people off, it's Kawasaki with those cheap plastic luggage boxes and goofy fog lights.
This is just another option for those who think of joining the V party, especially if they live in UK.
And it has everything stock GT model has and more (and better). You can't disagree with the logic.

Also, it gives you an idea what can be done to customize the bike and make it more Adventure Touring ready.
Spec out the prices for parts and tires and if it's worth it for you, you can customize it yourself.

That's a 300 w/ the SPOKE RIMS, NOT a 650.

He's talking about V-Strom 650XT. He feels the "XT" isn't worth the extra money and he feels the same way about this Special Ops edition.
