Thumbs down HELP! Looking for a bike part(s)

Hi guys, i need some help finding parts for my 2017 Versys 650!
I'm planning a trip to Newfoundland leaving in 3 weeks and need to either find the replacement part or fix this one!

This time (have had very bad luck owning this bike) it seems my bike was knocked over by heavy gusts of winds. This happened about a week ago - I left it parked on the center stand, and that, together with the rain cover and wind knocked the bike over, breaking the left side foot peg stay (plate).

Part #: 35063-0967-18R
part image.jpg

Anyone here have a spare one?? (I know, long shot...) Or if you know or can recommend a place where to get it, would help a lot. Every place I have called reports it's back-ordered with no date!

How come this is the case for a new in-production bike?
Last year, the bike spent a couple of months in the shop due to a broken triple tree from an attempted robbery or vandalism (my guess). But again, the issue was that the parts were backordered!

I hate to say this, but I used to have more luck finding parts for my previously overpriced no-longer-in-production Ducati (not that I'd ever go back to it...)

Here's the aftermath: broken bike.jpg

I use these guys for online parts. They have the best prices I have found anywhere. Then I found out that our local shop will match internet prices so I will add to cart what I need, then print it and the local shop gets it for me. I have to pay tax but no shipping.

Cookin Wid Gas

2015 V-650 of course it's green...it's a Kazawalski.

Yes!! They indeed have the best prices, I called them earlier today but no dice.

I tried with all online parts warehouses and there's just no availability for that part. It's backordered and it needs to be shipped from the factory in Japan when availsble.

I'm looking for an alternative due to timing, so if anyone has a spare or knows of an aftermarket, would be great!

Else I'll ask to solder it or try to fix it in place for the trip.

Thanks!

I can't help with the part but I can say the large allen bolt that holes the shifter and foot peg to that bracket is very soft steel and has thread lock on it so heat it-- also Rocky mountain ATV has that part for $49.52

I hope you have heated gear if you are riding to Newfoundland in 3 weeks. It does not warm up until late June Where are you travelling from? It is a much nicer trip in the summer, when things have turned green and daytime temperatures are above 50F/10C.

Thanks motorboy,

I'm not sure I follow your recommendation, however, there is no 'hole' anymore on my bike. It pretty much broke in half, so it's not about the footpeg falling off, but also the hole where you screw it is broken in halves (you can see it in the picture I posted above).

Ha!
No heated gear here, but that doesn't scare me.
I've done +8 hr trips hovering 0C so I know I can stand that. And from the looks of it, that would be the early morning temps, going up to 8-10 during noon and the afternoon.

I'm riding up from NYC for a couple of days, taking the ferry there, 5 days of non-stop riding 'round the island and then 2 days back (packing ~5K miles in 10 days).

Suggest you also take ferry from Maine to Yarmouth, NS as it will be faster https://www.ferries.ca/thecat/schedule/ and ride the NS coastal roads.

Also check out the Cabot Trail in Nova Scotia (Cape Breton Island) as it is a popular motorcycle route.

There is a snow and freezing rain warning in St. John's right now. If there is anyway you can push back your trip until closer to summer I think you will enjoy it much more. Campgrounds are not open this early in the season.

From someone who grew up in Atlantic Canada, April/May is frequently gray, cold and wet but awesome in summer, especially early August.

The rise in temperatures is usually 1 to 1.5 months behind NYC.

This is an awesome tip - unfortunately I won't be able to move the trip further back (expecting a new family member this summer). But I'll definitely consider this for next year's trip (unless I end up doing Norway or Alaska )

But, has anyone here had experience in junkyard "shopping"? This would be my first time doing it (if the bike is there)

If you cross at Calais, ME, there is also a cheaper ferry not far away that will take you from Saint John, NB to Digby, NS. It's a nice ride from Digby to Halifax on back roads.

Cabot Trail....

You DO have the pieces of the broken foot-peg bracket?

Take 'em to a good aluminum welder and get it welded!

Oh man, this sucks... I get the feeling - I've been calling junkyards in my area but no Versys so far... maybe you'll get lucky trying that.
But, oh so frustrating the backorder after backorder...
