Mr. Bones, I must say that was an excellent read! The story was great and the writing superb.

May the road always curve in front of you.

Great article...

I'm the same way, people tell me all the time "you don't look like a motorcycle rider" well I tell them I'm 55 and have been riding since I was 12.
I had the honda 50 and oddly enough I bought a new 1976 Kaw KZ400..

Thanks for sharing..

Sold 2005 honda vtx 1300 bought an '09 versys

Very enjoyable Bones, and hauntingly familiar too. The no motorcycle edict is strangely similar to, "No, you can't have a BB gun. You'll shoot your eye out."

Well, I still have both eyes though I misplaced the BB gun ages ago, and I still ride motorcycles. And apparently at my age, people are also surprised that a greybeard would do such a thing. The implication seems to be that by now I'd know better. Wrong again! It beats the hell out of golf and it helps keep me young - well, relatively anyway.

"Riding daily, rain or shine"

Great read!

I have raced in incomprehensible rain and mud off-road. That's exactly why I don't ride in rain (or even worse) on the street. It's not me...it's a visibility and traction issue....

Thank you for this! That's gonna be my stock reply: "Beats golfing!"

And if they look puzzled by that reply, I'll add: "How many commercials for erectile-dysfunction drugs have you seen that said, 'See our ad in Golf Magazine'? And how many ads for ED drugs have you seen that said, 'See our ad in Motorcyclist Magazine'?"

wink-wink

Great article! I'm kinda the same type. Someone said to me recently, you ride a motorcycle!? But you're so calm. My response, "It helps keep me calm." I never arrive to or from work in an angry, frustrated, PO'd mood when I commute on the motorcycle, always a smile on my face...

Thanks for the responses, guys.

One of my favorite photos has me and about a dozen moto buddies, with the caption "Bad Ass Biker Dudes"

Maybe that's why golfers play with rigid sticks with little clubs on the end. Compensates, perhaps, for limp willies??

Not that I have anything against golf or golfers. I just don't undersand the purpose of the game - hit a little ball and then spend the rest of the day looking for it.
