How to use top two Stock windscreen holes?

I have a 2012 Versys and am experiencing alot of buffeting. I have a givi windscreen on it and want to try the upper two mounts but they don't have threaded inserts in them. Are the lower ones supposed to pop out or do I have to get new inserts for the upper holes. Thanks.

i just did the same thing on my 2012.
the lower ones pop out. it's kind of hard to do.
you want to spray some wd40 so they slide out easier.
thread the existing bolt in the rivet and try to pry out one end of the rivet first. dont thread them in all the way.
hold the plastic surrounding it in place so that it doesn't come appart. the plastic in that area is held in using rivets (a different type than what the screen uses).
there's also a large rivet in the topmost hole that the windscreen needs. you need to remove that as well. use a screwdriver.
it's a pain, but it can be done. when i did it, the plastic around the instrument panel deformed, i just took the smaller rivets out, moved everything in place, and popped the rivets back in.

Those are called wellnuts, and you can pull them out and re-use them in the upper holes, or go to someplace like and buy additional wellnuts to put in those empty holes.

Someday is not a day of the week.
