water pump seal leak

my new 2012 Versys is in the shop for repair. I noticed I had antifreeze on the ground under the front of the motor and anti freeze was dripping off the oil filter.. I brought her in for a check at the dealer and was advised I could not ride it any more until it was fixed. The gasket on the water pump is leaking. has anyone else had an issue with the water pump gasket?? it has been the longest week for me. And then today we took the 250 klx for a ride and I toasted the rear blinker. Melted it right down to where the wires were bare and the light was hanging by only one wire. I have a big gun exhaust on it and we added a baffle to try and quiet it a little . It apparently directed the exhaust right onto the rear blinker. So the baffle is out and a new blinker is ordered. so with out any bike for a week..

I haven't read about water pump leaks lately, but several have had issues with brand new bikes dripping from the seal.

As far as your melted signal, in Virginia, turn signals are not required on a MC. You can use hand signals. Might look up the laws in your state!

It's the first I've heard of a leak at the water pump seal. Sounds as if your dealer is going to make it right though, and that's very good news.

Passed through Dixfield a two weeks ago on the way to Mt. Washington, but didn't happen to notice a Kawasaki dealer. Where do you take your Versys for service?

Sounds like you might need titanium blinkers for your KLX - don't believe heat would bother them too much. Of course another alternative would be, "Gosh officer, I sure didn't notice that melted blinker. I wonder how that could have happened."
