7100 miles and counting

The V goes in for her 7500 mile service next week. Because I work such wonky hours I pre-paid all my maintenance up to 21000 miles. This actually worked out because the shop had to raise their rates a bit. So I saved myself a bit of cash in the long run.

The service lady seemed to be amazed that I put on "that many miles on a less than a year old bike". I told her if I didn't work so many wierd hours it probably would have been in sooner. I have a strict rule about me riding while severely fatigued.

We both laughed. It's funny because when I go there to look at stuff the service guys and sales guys always ask what I have done to the bike and come spend some time shooting the breeze about the bike. I like having a nice relationship with the dealership. If anyone is ever in Western Maryland check out Twiggs in Hagerstown they have always treated me right, been early on all my part orders and always answered any dumb questions I had being a newly re-introduced rider.

yo mike, lets meet up, cause I wanna find a better kawi dealer then the ones around philly. Everyone is a slick wise guy townie around here and there is no sense of comradery.

What you just described is a place that I would spend a couple extra dollars to support.

btw ... i put 14,500 miles on mine last year.

Sure BAMF I should warn you my work schedule is kind of flaky and tossing in the girls schedules for basketball and band I have very little extended planning. I tend to just go do things at the last minute when I see a free block of time. But PM me and we can exchange information and if I can yank myself away from commitments I will be happy to show you the area.

I would be remiss to in letting you know from Philly to Hagerstown is about 3 hours plus one way though.

I told them I was a lightweight on my mileage.

Looks like friday afternoon I'm leaving from the service dept where I am taking the bike and heading to charlotte.

Depending on the time they finish up if at all will determine if I roll or not. Keeping my fingers crossed its all routine and I can be on the road by 3pm. I doubt the bike needs any parts but I like to plan for the worst.

Sadly all the KOA's between Hagerstown and Charlotte require I make a reservation before 7pm. Bad part is the earliest I can check out is 8am. I may just haul it all down Friday but with bathroom breaks and stretching breaks that puts me into arriving at about 12am. Probably safer to stop for a bit and sleep as I will be getting up at 4am and I don't want to be fatigued while riding. Got my sleeping bag and tarp ready though. Really didn't want to hotel it as I want to run through some gear tests for when I make my cross country trip next year.

Keep your fingers crossed I get in and out of service quick.
