A whole new bike!

With our lovely spring showers the last week here in Portland I took advantage of the not so nice weather and did a couple of the projects I've been too busy to do.

I took care the dreaded dash rattle, I removed all the plastics up front and added foam where needed and removed the cluster and took care of that. I then replaced all the Kawi plastic connectors with stainless nuts and bolts.

I added my 6 fuse connector box I got for Christmas. Wired my heated grips into that and added a socket for my radar dectector and gps.

I have a couple longer rides planned coming up nothing too crazy but my Jardine exhaust has a noise that sometimes makes my ear ring even with ear plugs. I went back to stock for a little bit.

The part i was most excited for, I received my Seat Concepts foam and cover and after a few failed attempts at my upholstry skills I took it to a professional to install (well worth the $50)

Well I've only has the chance to commute on it this morning (27 miles). But holy crap! I have a completely different bike. I couldnt be more happy with the rattle being gone it feels so much more solid and the seat! No more sliding into the tank and it is wider than stock so feel more comfortable. Im unfortunately leaving out of town this weekend so I can't do a long ride on the seat to let you know how it is but I can't wait to try it out.

Seat Concepts kit

I recently installed the Seat Concepts kit as well and it is amazing. I am not a long distance rider but even on my 1-2 hour rides -- heck even on my 25 minute commute! -- I was miserable on the stock seat even with the raised front mod. With the Seat Concepts kit I do not need the front raised. There is more room to slide back and forth, and the quality of the foam is hugely better. Plus it looks sweet.

I did the work myself with a good quality mechanical stapler. It was a bit tricky and there was one ripple I could not get rid of but with use it has all evened out beautifully. Highly recommended, especially for the price!
