What'd you get for the holidays? (Motorcycle related, of course)

Well most who know me know I am a bit of a Scrooge when it comes to Xmas. I prefer Thanksgiving because to me it's like all the family time, fun and games, and lots of good food WITHOUT the added stress and expenditure of all the gifts..

That being said I do try to get meaningful gifts for others and ended up with some nice things in return.

The big thing for me this season was the David Hough book Proficient Motorcycling http://www.amazon.com/Proficient-Motorcycling-Ultimate-Guide-Riding/dp/1933958359/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1325091152&sr=1-1 which I have already started. It's a bit dry and techy to start but is building the foundation and I am getting into it.

I am putting a nice little m/c library together now with my Motorcycle Roadcraft and Total Control I am enjoying learning a lot by reading and then practicing new techniques on the road.

So anyway, what did you all get from the big boy in the red suit for your two-wheel adventures? New gloves? Books? Tires? Other?

Sure. I think I have my route planned out in a general way.

Plan is Start in Maryland and take the first day to run to Charlotte. My dad may decide to follow in an RV from there but he hasn't decided yet. This will be about 400 miles and will consist of ensuring everything stayed where it was supposed too and any additional changes will be made there.

From Charlotte I will be heading south to Dallas/Ft. Worth, have to stop for my lecture on how dangerous motorcycles are from my grandmother and get a bowl of spaghetti-o's with franks. She loves me that much and still remembers that I love them (guilty pleasure).

then across the great state of Texas and up into New Mexico and Nevada to California. From there head up the coast of Cali to San Francisco where I will zoom across the Golden Gate bridge to keep my promise to my uncle who passed away last year on this day. He was avid rider and I was supposed to make this trip with him

Then from San Fran all the way back across the wonderful US of A to Maryland.

Total time I can afford for this trip will be 3 weeks. So I'll be moving fast and hard some days and not so hard other days.

Total trip seems to be about 5600 miles. Trying to scrape my pennies together to make this happen.

+1 Handguards. Did about a 250 mile ride today in the non-Winter gloves, and hands were fine. Barkbuster kit was easy to install and seems high quality. Fun loop from Santa Barbara to Los Olivos for a mocha, to Foxen/Tepesquet Canyon twisties, Hiway 119 fast blast to the 33 twisties over Pine Mountain and the 150 back to the South Coast. Elevation was from Sea Level to 5160 ft and back. Nasty crosswind on the 119 - every time a truck went by in the opposite direction, I had to duck low and steady'r up. SoCal is getting La Nina weather, meaning chilly nights, warm days, sunny, clean air, and no rain. Just hellish! :-)

Someday is not a day of the week.

No motorcycle parts this year, my daughter gave me money for a new tattoo though. She knew I had an idea for a new tat and gave me the ability to get it. The tattoo is my helmet with a reflection of a mountain road in the faceshield. My daughters boyfriend gave me a 76 puch maxi moped.

A Stebal air horn (and Twisted Throttle wiring kit) plus Oxford heated grips

I have the bike in pieces and need to fashion a brackets to hang the Stebal off the right side of the engine (the left cowl is already busy with a FuzeBlock)

Some projects to keep me busy over the cold months

Although I have had Miss Jaffa (Burnt Orange 2007 Versys) for a while, I still have a lot to learn.
