Will you buy a Versys 1000?

When its available in the US I will most definitely buy one. Anyone else?

I was considering pulling the trigger on a Ninja 1000 but when I saw a few months back there would be a Versys 1000 I knew I had to wait. I just wish I didn't have to wait until 2013.

I'm looking at the Versys 1000 and the Triumph Explorer. The main thing i like about the Triumph is shaft drive. http://www.triumphadventure.com/en/

I think the Versys 650 is a great deal at the price it sells at and an even better deal used. The Versys 1000 though is selling at over 14K. At that price point you can get some pretty nice alternatives.

Right now I'd say no. After a test ride on a demo day I might change my thought on that. Too bad demo days are few and far between around here for Kawis'.

A huge factor for me, and others in Can. too, is the insurance rate on the 1000.

I wouldn't mind an extra couple hun. or so, but it could easily double what I'm payin' for the 650, making it a lot less do-able.

Twice the price plus twice the insurance cost for less than twice the bike just doesn't add up for me.

Any of our friends to the south can come on up and buy one this year.
Why wait? The price may be about 50% more than what you might have to pay next year in the U.S. of A., but that is the price to pay for being one of the first.

On another thread Lours_Polaire(excuse spelling LOP) mentioned there are two in a shop in Montreal! Get 'em while they're hot!
I searched but was unable to find which shop.

I agree not at 14000. I still like the z1000 and have seen left overs go for a decent price .

Yes, I would appreciate the extra power and the extra room for two up and long distance touring. Although Im concerned about the extra weight and size my option for an upgrade so far is a c14.

Well there you go, a new twist. I would have said no. My wife likes the cruiser and I would get a 650 to enjoy for around town and one up travel.

Now, I think you've hit a new angle. If only one bike, the choice for two up then becomes extra $ and comfort for the C14 or any big sport tourer or the V1000 for a naked bikethat works well for two up. That is, of course, assuming it is a good two up machine.

For my wife's comfort and opinion, the 650 was too cramped and she felt VERY uneasy compared to the vulcan.

Nope. With TWO Vs - does that make me a "Versys 1300" owner...?

Nope. Will not get the 1000.

Here in Malaysia the Versys 1000 is priced almost double the price at USD 23K plus compared to USD 11K for the Versys 640. Just too expensive.

With USD 23K, rather get a Versys 650 and a Vulcan 900...

Can get a taste of both worlds....yeeeahhhhh..

Well it is available here and I wouldn't buy one.

1: It's not terribly pretty to look at. OK, the Gen1 Versys isn't a looker and the Gen2 is much easier on the eye, but the V thou' is horrible.

2: I got rid of my Fazer thou' because the engine didn't give me 'the fizz'. In-line 4 = boring to me.

3: I'd rather spend the same money on a lightly used Ducati MultiStrada. I did a 100ish mile demo ride on one and they are fantastic.

I could go on, but I've lost interest........

Good luck exploring the infinite abyss

I'd buy one if the price was right, but as has been mentioned, a used Ducati Multistrada is reachable of if the V1000 is going to be $14k.

I'm thinking i'd rather get a FZ1 at less than half the price, but hey, a test ride could change that...went into a kawi dealership to look at a ninja 500, took a test ride on the V, and left to get bank approval for it lol.

Bikes:
65cc Benelli Dynamo
Yamaha ttr-125
Kawasaki KX-125
Yamaha Yz426-f (current)
2010 Kawasaki Versys! (very current and loving it!)

I would like to have one as it would address the current issues with my 08. But I will wait until I ride one to decide. The 650 is a lot of fun and easy to ride. I would like more power and room for two up riding.

Steve

I bought a motorcycle because my wife said that I couldn't! Now I have two and she still says I can't have another one!

Nope my 650 is the right blend of power, performance and comfort for me.

Its a nice thought but I'm happy with the machines in the 250-650cc range.

I might buy a 1000, but just bought a GSXR-600k6 to mess with on the track.
But the V will always be my best bike and baby other than my girl....haha

Happy New Year everyone.
