Sargent Seat for Versys

Sargent Products has announced that they are developing a World Sport Performance Seat for the Versys. Although the price has not been released, the targeted release is Fall 2011.

They are also offering V owners the opportunity to pre-register for a special, limited time introductory price. Here's the link:

says 2009+, I thought the 2008 and 2009 were pretty much the same bike. Anyone know for sure?

My guess is that they mean 2010+. Hope I'm wrong.

I am guessing they mean what they say...I'm pretty sure it will fit 09 which means it should fit an 08.

I don't know how different the 10-11 seats are.

I bought a 08 stock seat from a forum member to go on my 09 no issues. Have put my baldwin seat off my 09 on a 2010 model it fit perfectly so from what i've seen all models used that same crappy seat

2009 Blue Versys.

Had a sargent seat on my 6th gen vfr. It was an improvement but not by much. Maybe because the vfr seat was not too bad.

Any news on weather or not Sargent will be selling a seat for the Versys?

They're working on it. Late Spring release I think is what they said. You can go to the site and register for an email notification which will get you a bit of a discount when it's released. There's no requirement to buy if you register for the email.

The real question for me is, Will it be better than my Corbin?

Probably in construction quality. With regard to comfort, probably about the same. I have a Corbin on my F800. At a rally a couple of years ago, I tried a Sargent on it and didn't find any improvement in comfort. However, the Sargent was lighter and had the tool storage space under it. That wasn't enough to justify replacing the Corbin. However, I'm going to wait for the Sargent for the V rather than going with a Corbin this time. I also have a Corbin on my NT700V, only because there was no Sargent available for it and feel that the construction quality is sub-par.

If my experience in buying BMW seats continues to reflect current production quality from the two companies...the Sargent is likely to be a much better product.

Usually I'm a fan of Corbin. I have them on my Concours C10 and 1st gen FZ1, but I sold the one that came with the used '08 I got last spring for two reasons-it was slippery, and it looked like it belonged on an '80's metric cruiser. If Corbin had a sporty, solo-look seat with a cowl like the one on my FZ, I'd buy it. Until then, I'll wait for the Sargent.

I'm on the list. Interesting to see how it comes out.

I've been on the list for well over a year. They were originally saying it would be available Spring 2011. Given the number of seat choices currently available they may have dropped this or are simply waiting to see if demand picks up enough to make it worthwhile to develop a seat for the Versys.

I emailed Sargent and got this reply from a lovely lady called Mary.

We are progressing nicely with the Versys. We already have the pan mold in our possession and I am working on the foam molds as we speak. Hardware is running a little late because our supplier went through a move to a new location late December but we should be getting them in late this month.

I cannot say exactly for sure when we will release it but at the rate we are moving on it right now, I believe we will make it on time for your tour. (Just an educated guess.)

We appreciate your patience.

I would not hold my breath, I got a similar response in September from another R&D person. They said they had the pan and were researching the final seat shape. At that time they had moved the release date from Spring 2011, to Summer 2011, to Fall 2011, and now Summer 2012.

That tour. I don't really care about your tour other than I hope you enjoy it; I'm trying to find out when they think the seats will be ready.
