Ride in State Game Lands. ...And pie!

You know, this friggin' Versys is capable of quite a lot without any modifications, except airing down the street tires (Avon Storm Ultra 2) to 20 psi.

Yesterday I was on a ride from West Chester PA to Syracuse NY and back for business.
Northwest of Wilkes-Barre I took a shortcut through State Game Lands.

This is the best that the road ever was. It soon changed to much more steeply inclined, rock strewn, potholed paths complete with 10Ē deep water crossings on the flat sections.

It is out of hunting season and these roads are very little traveled, for obvious reasons. And I have no SPOT. To be honest, while riding the more difficult sections, I was assessing how long of a walk it would be to get back if I cracked the oil pan. Or how painful riding would be with a broken collarbone or foot.
But at my low speeds, I considered the chance of a disabling crash low enough to do this woods section alone. In the end the only thing that happened was that I stalled and a 0 mph flop over into the mud.

I didnít gain any time on this shortcut , but I had a blast riding it.

Then on my way home I stopped somewhere for dinner at a local diner with a lot of local pickup trucks in the parking lot (avoid the chain restaurants, they are not by far as adventurous!).
The BBQ Chicken and baked potato were mediocre, but the coffee was surprisingly good and the rhubarb pie with ice cream was absolutely fantastic!

My hats off to you!! I have been trying to get V rides to take time to hit some trails. The V does great I think.
Coffee and pie to top off the perfect day!
