Talking 6 things nobody tells you about motorcycle ownership

Interesting read. Just learned via that article and double checked its validity that as of July 1 2011, Virginia will then allow Motorcycles and Bicyclists to run a red light after coming to a complete stop and waiting 120 seconds or 2 cycles (whichever is shorter). This is great news!!

Link to article about the new Virginia law.

Copied from article regarding the wave..."If you do manage to see an oncoming bike with enough time to get an appropriate wave up, you better make sure it isn't a scooter. Unwritten bike rules make it a crime punishable by exile or death to wave at a scooter. And damn if it isn't hard to tell when you two are approaching each other at a combined 100 mph. If you do catch yourself mid-wave to a Vespa, however, it is acceptable to slowly turn it into an upraised middle finger. It's like the handshake-psyche of the two-wheeled world, and the look of dejection on their face will redeem any momentary awkwardness." Funny but soooooooo mean!

Bird nest in the helmet is way better than some other crap I've seen on campus happening to other people's helmets hanging on their bikes. People use them as trash cans, urinals, ash trays, etc. and think it is freaking hilarious.

Interesting read though.

Funny stuff, but the writer missed some others,
though they mostly fall under the stupidity umbrella.

He didn't even mention the potential modding(fark....) addiction,
or chroming,
or purchasing more gear than any one guy could carry.
or doing your own work and really mess the ride up bad.(for what?)
or taking your street bike off road trail riding, just 'cause you could.

Anyone think of some more???

I wish dryer sheets would ward off mice - I found plenty evidence of the little snots had been under the seat and probably all through the nooks sometime during winter storage. Such nasty things they are, I'll take spiders over them, but bird crap in my helmet is really bad too.
