City Light Replacement and other Fails

I intended to replace my city light with an LED on my 11 V. I couldn't remove the large quick rivets from the cowling. The small ones came out fine, but I couldn't get the large one out. I can get to the socket with with my hand, but it won't budge, so fail there.

I got a nice fancy DNA air filter, cool. While going through the maintenance manual it says I have to remove the fuel tank. to get to the air cleaner. Wow. I didn't know I'd have to disassemble the whole bike just to do minor maintenance.

I'll come back at it later, I'm sure.

I'm going golfing.

Nothing's too cruel if it's funny enough.

On the light replacement... Not sure I understood which rivets you're trying to remove, because you don't need to remove any cowlings to replace the city light.

Just reach it from the back, give the socket a good twist (can't remember which way) and it pops out.

You were correct. It twisted right out.

Maybe I'll do the air cleaner some time when the bikes about out of fuel.

G19Tony, you've discovered one of the reasons virtually no one changes the sparkplugs according to the manual...in general they last way longer than the manual infers and they are a PITA to get to as is the air filter. The write up below is a great. It's for an 08 but your 11 probably is very similar. Have fun getting all that plastic off!

Service manual says replacement spark plugs every 12000km or 7500 miles.
Had replaced plug recently after 24000 km. Still looked ok and no misfiring. Used Denso IU27A.

I suppose in Kawasaki's defense, they do have a lot of things to stuff into a small space. It makes my like my 74 Honda 350F a little better though.
