sold my KLR yesterday

Well, I'm now officially ONLY a Versys owner - Big Red in AZ, and the Green Hornet in Alberta. First fellow to see the KLR bought it after a short demo ride.

It was a fun 77,780 kms!

Ed, Did you have any mechanical issues with your KLR? I don't think I've seen a KLR with that many miles on it.

When I bought my Versys, I used my KLR as a trade in. It was a great machine and I miss it. I wish I could have kept both bikes

Talking Sold my 2008 KLR

I sold my KLR650 and then ordered a 2011 Versys.
No regrets! No comparison!
May be in the market for a DR650. Going air cooled next time.

I sold my 09 KLR for another bike too. Sorry, it wasn't for a Versys. I liked the "Killer" it just didn't have enough power over 65 mph (I have a heavy right wrist). Those thumpers only have so much hp. The Versys kills the KLR on the road.

I sold my '05 back in '08 to help pay for my Versys... at the time I was looking for more a more 'street' friendly ride (and found it)... BUT, lately I've been missing the dual-nature of my once loved and well farkled KLR (accept for the Aztech 'pink' color) and wish I had her back (but I wouldn't trade my Versys for her).

'08 Versys.. Givi rear rack, JCW trunk and E21's, Givi shield, Madstad bracket, Speedy peg and mirror brackets, lowering kit, SC Seat, R1 Shock.. other stuff. '09 KLX250 setup for singletrack. 2011 Xterra, '80 CJ-7

Garage
I have an '08 KLR and now the '11 Versys. The both have similar riding positions. With some seat mods on the KLR they could be comparable for long distance riding. I decided that I am going to see if the Versys could actually replace the KLR before I decide to part with it. BTW: my KLR is heavily modified. So far I am thinking the Versys will be a lightweight tourer and will be set up like my avatar as soon as all those parts become available and/or by late fall.

Just sold my mint green 06 KLR and bought a brand new green 09 leftover Versys. I am loving the Versys and not really missing the KLR. Can't beat the acceleration, braking and general smoothness of the Versys. The only thing I miss about the KLR is my tall Cee Baileys windscreen but will be ordering one for the new bike soon!!!
