Leftover '13 purchase in '17?

Sorry, I had this posted before, but the forum ate it. I called a semi local (about an hour away) dealership regarding two brand new '13s to get the skinny. All the fluids have been maintained, and they will give me a brand new battery. Anyways the quick over the phone price was $6,999.

What does everyone think sounds fair for a new leftover '13 for me to ride away with? I'm thinking about riding down there soon and seeing if they have any interest in my '05 Suzuki DRZ 400 SM in trade.

I'm located in far western NY.

Are you in the USA, talking $USD or in Canada with $CA ? If a 650 in the USA, keep looking!! The oldest "new" stock in my area are a couple new 2015 non LT in the nice lime green. They are going for $6500 with no fees other than tax/title/reg. Kawasaki does not give bigger dealer rebates to 2015 models than they do the 2016's. Can't imagine they're doing anything for 2013's. It will depend on how much $$ the dealer wants to either make or lose on what you pay for it. Unless you really like the 2013 aesthetics, the latest gen 2015> are a much better option.

The fact they have a leftover 2013 bike seems kinda weird, especially if they are not a hole in the wall dealership as the Versys is a big seller for Kawasaki. If it truly has zero miles on it you should likely be able to haggle the price down to at least $5000 US. Nothing wrong with the 13, especially at that price.

There is not that big a difference mechanically between MK1, MK2 and MK3 bikes. They made gradual improvements between versions in engine vibration damping and of course the styling is different. Also ABS was not introduced until 2014.

2007-2009 MK1
2010-2014 MK2
2015+ MK3

Sorry, yes I'm in the US and it is for a 650, my bad. They have multiple locations and sell not only bikes, but also quads and sleds. I was thinking $7k for something a few years old was kinda high, I can't imagine they want to continue to let them sit there. They have a white one and blue. Maybe I'll try to head down there next week and get a better sense of how much (or little) they are willing to deal.

I am in the group suggesting that you try for a Gen 3 - might as well have the LATEST model - which should cost LESS than your quoted price for a '13. Here's a '16 on Ebay for $6300:

For perspective, I purchased a leftover 2016 for 7,495. Take that for what it's worth....

So if I can get say $5k-$6k out the door is that worth it? I'm assuming since they're starting with $7k that's probably a pipe dream.

I actually just found a dealer around 25 miles away that has a new '16 650 LT internet priced at $7,700. I need a new tire on my super moto so this will give me another reason to check it out. For some reason it wasn't coming up in any searches.

A 15+ MK3 will have the latest features and a better resale value. ABS is a really nice thing to have and can lower cost of insurance

In 2015 I could have bought a new '14 for $4995, plus Tax & Title.

What is the Nada of that bike? Whatever it is will be what it is worth the moment you take possession, and when you go to sell it the value will be closer to low retail.

$3905 - $5135.

Good luck.

I bought my new 2011 in November 2011 for $6125 OTD from a Florida dealer. MSRP was $6999. My opinion is that it's way overpriced.

You didn't say where in the USA you are-and I agree if price is within $1500 I would go with a GEN 3--BUT-- if you live in the deep South I know where there is a brand new 2014 Green 650 for $3995-plus fee's not sure how much that would be.

EVEN at $5K - it will be worth MUCH less the minute you sign the papers!
