Howdy all. Have been MIA for about a month due to work and other things. Have I missed anything exciting or earth shattering since late July. I survived my 31st wedding anniversary with the remarkable Mrs. Jackson, and did a great ride through KY and TN to see the eclipse. (see ride description below) I attached someone else's incredible eclipse shot at sunset off the coast of S. Carolina. Will be posting others later including a time lapse I did.

And, after doing about 800 miles on mostly all 2 lane and back road twisties, I apologize for ever insinuating that the stock seat is livable.

Have you EVER tried raising the front of your stock seat? I just did a 25 day cross-Canada (and BACK) ride, 13,950 KMS [8,668 MILES] on my '15 650LT w/ a raised seat ($2 for hardware), and, despite MANY 11 hour days, my butt WAS fine! (Wrote it up in MEMBERS RIDES).

MY take is that - RAISED - the OEM seat is GREAT!

Ed, I originally used the washer method, then had a bunch of the front foam removed, and eventually got Rockstar's 3-d printed lifter. It works great. However, on this trip, about 4 hours in the first day, I started getting uncomfortable. I moved around, and stood occasionally, but started thinking that many of the complaints I have read may be well justified. I was also using an Alaskan butt pad. Hard to explain why I was affected so much. Take care. I was sorry to hear about Joe's accident, but it sounds like he's okay, and the bike insurance is doing what it's supposed to do.

rayj - did you consider that the cause of your sore bum after 4 hours MIGHT have been due to the foam removal? I have ridden LONG days on all three of my V 650s - ALL have had the fronts raised 9/16" as I outlined (and that's ALL!), and NONE cause my butt to hurt...!
