I've run into problem after problem with the folks that are suppose to be producing the Centerstand so I just shut any notice about it down until I actually have Centerstands on my shelf, ready to ship. I've about pulled what hair I have left out, but I've got so much money invested with these folks I can't afford to just pull the plug and go elsewhere right now. I had quite a set-to with them recently and they are bending over backwards to appease me.

There are so many variables to accommodate with the centerstand like lowered or not, bags or not, etc. it has been a challenge. Thanks for your continuing interest and hopefully after this production run of 20, they will be right and the next production run will happen much more timely and smoothly.

Right now, it looks like the middle of January or maybe a little earlier. I just want them "right" before I start shipping them. I will put the Website back up when they are ready and post it on this forum also.

What's a 'set-to'?

I suggest you put your site up with a 'projected shipping date'. Otherwise people can't find you. You can also take orders with a projected ship date so people that want them know they'll get one when they're ready.

I went round and round with this same thing with twisted throttle on their skid plate. They never offered to sell me one, reserve one, backorder one, nadda. When they were finally put up on their site to order I was so disgusted I may never do business with them, ever. I recommend you accomodate those that definitely want your product, put them down for one, reserve one for them, accept payment or a deposit, etc.

In short, a "set-to" is a heated argument.

I think you might be right about the web-site and a projected shipping date and thanks for the suggestion. I have updated and put the website back on line for those interested.

Here's the site. www.versyscenterstand.com

Yeah, I sometimes I forget that not everyone is familiar with the "terms" we use here in Texas. I was born in Dallas, Tx on Texas Independence Day, March 2, so I'm about as Texan as you can get.

The term "set to" works in Alberta TOO (of course, Alberta is considered the MOST American of the Canadian provinces, because when we were getting our oil production started, we were helped by a WHOLE SH*TLOAD of 'Texicans'!).

I'm from Texas, born in the Fort Worth medical district during summer. Grew up in various spots around Tarrant and Dallas counties. Went to high school in southern Brazoria county. Crossed the state numerous times, from Amarillo to Padre Island, and El Paso to Beaumont and all points between. First time I've ever heard of a conflict referred to as a set-to. I might have to start using it though. Unique term there.

Like many, I'm interested in those centerstands, so I hope you get everything situated with them at some point. I can kind of see them as something that might eventually become lucrative to you, if you can get all the kinks worked out creation and distribution.

I would figure that whether someone has a lowered KLE or bags or not is irrelevant. It aint your job to appease those of us who have modified their bikes. Make it for the standard bike, and then the folks who modify their bikes can modify their stands, or just push the deployment pedal harder, and pull up on the bike more. Making something work for every application is insane, most of use would just be happy to get something that works for the standard bike, and go from there if we change(d) our bikes. Plus, there are 2010s and up that probably don't have anyone working on stands for them yet.

Good luck with your manufacturer!

I appreciate your comments and in many ways I agree with you however, I've come this far and have almost been driven insane trying to get this stand to work with just about any configuration, but "by George" I believe I've done it. Product should be shipping the first or second week of January 2011.

As far as the 2010 and up models, I can see no reason why the stand will not work on them either. Nothing has changed that would alter the way the center stand is mounted.

Just put in a reservation for a lowered silver one. I looked into ways to oil my chain on long trips and this seems like the best option.

Yep, got you on the list with a few others and just got everything back from manufacturing today so after a fitment check tomorrow, I should be able to start shipping the ones on the shelf. There are now 15 available out of the original 20. Check the website for availability.

Both finishes look very good! Nice work Don.
When your current inventory is sold out, how long will it take for you to restock? Is your supplier up to speed now?

Thanks and I appreciate your support. I should start shipping this round in a couple of days once I get all the packaging set up.

According to my manufacturer I should be able to get a new batch within 2 weeks now that everything is set up. I'm going to re-order when I sell through half of these so I should not be out of stock. At least I hope not. Just not sure about how many black and silver to order in that batch.

Out of this first 20, I have 14 black and 1 silver still available. I'm really pleased at how they turned out and how sturdy they are. I put one on my son's standard height Versys and one on my lowered Versys and put them side by side. Here are a couple of pics.

This is very tempting. And that offer of free installation at your shop will make a great excuse for a ride this spring. The snow melts in April. See you then.

I'm quite surprised that I am getting inquiries from all over the world. I've had them from Russia, Spain, Thailand, etc and the latest one was from Poland. I am constantly amazed at the ability of most foreigners to be able to at least communicate in English. I admire them and am a tad bit embarrassed that I haven't taken up the challenge to learn to converse in at least one other language.

That makes three of us Don & Rick. I keep meaning to learn another language (doesn't Morse code count?). Sigh.

A good friend of mine took a month off and did an intensive total immersion Spanish (North American variety) course a couple Summers ago. That seemed to be THE way to learn.

Sorry for the hijack.
