Unhappy A little concerned about ER6 Valve issues (Ninja 650/Versys 650)

Hello All,

Today, I was doing some research about Valve Adjustment for my Versys 650 but something caught my attention.
You know Google tend to suggest what you wants to search for based on the popularity, and the Kawasaki Versys 650 Value Problem/Issue was the one showed up...

https://www.google.com/search?q=kawa...50+valve+issue

Looks like this topic has become major discussion/concern in several forums/countries but as far as I can tell, Kawasaki didn't issue any recall yet.
My previous bike, the 2nd Gen V-Strom from Suzuki was actually being checked by the dealer under recall (free of charge) and the result was fine... that gives me peace of mind and I know there won't be something out of order when I am riding 90 mph on freeway (excepts for human error or other factors)

Now, I wonder why Kawasaki is not issuing any sort of recall?
According to the results I saw, this seems to be a major and common issue for ER6 engine family.
Unfortunately, except for doing valve adjustment, there is no way we can do (like a proactive check).

Does this valve issue worries you?
What is your thought and have you heard from someone you know or experienced this issue yourself (hopefully no)?
Or this is just another thing people over-discussed/over-reacted?

I love my Versys and enjoyed riding it a lot, but this issue kind of stop me from riding it and thinking about selling it
Hopefully there is some remedy or work-around to prevent this from happening...

Ride safe folks!

You need to read several story's to get the whole picture-the valve problem was for bikes made in Malaysia before 2015 only-Kawasaki did a recall and fixed them

Apparently Kawasaki changed the intake and exhaust valves.

2011 through 2014
Intake: 12004-0706
Exhaust: 12005-0707 - superceeded by 12005-0742

2010 and older Versys
Intake: 12004-0015 superceeded by 12004-0706
Exhaust: 12005-0735 superceeded by 12005-0742

Cost of 8 new valves is ~$330 US plus labour to remove and reinstall head.

A VIN lookup says my Canadian Versys was made in Japan. The only difference between a Canadian Versys and American (non California version) Versys is the bilingual (French/English) stickers on the bike and bilingual owners manual. In some years the colors offered differed too.
