2011 Changes?

Went to IMS San Mateo today and sat on a couple 2011's. Are there any changes for 2011 other than price and color?

For 2011, the whole engine and fueling system is said to be retuned and reworked to meet Kawasaki's new 'green' environmental standard... Like almost every motorcycle manufacturer in the market, Kawasaki has stepped up the product renewal cycle for 2011. For Kawasaki, the main theme for 2011 is green. Some models get a redesigned combustion chamber, which will enhance the efficiency of the combustion burn. Also, Kawasaki doesn't use Mercury, Hexavalent chromium, Cadmium, and reduced the use of Lead in the production of the new 2011 Kawasaki motorcycles line-up.

"is said" By whom? Sources and link please
"Some models" How bout the Versys
"theme for 2011 is green"
Green is a marketing term meaning less "brown" there no such thing as a "Green" internal combustion engine fueled by gasoline
The Kawasaki Versys Web page it states: "And with numerous updates in 2010,the bike that is equal parts useful, affordable and fun
is still going strong for 2011"

Maybe they will update their web site later to publicize any improvements. It stands to reason they'd list any NEW positive changes on their Versys web page.

Don's bike is green, so is mine. What's the point? eh?

Seriously. A few thousand bikes? Exchange rate........Seven Versii to every Mustang GT. All because of a few thumb-sucking PC pinheads. None of it matters since global warming is a proven hoax.

What year was that pic taken? 1968? LA will always have the biggest problem because of its location and population density. It's common there to have an inversion layer that holds everything static.

They just need to move the city, the EPA never would have permitted a city there.

2008

You're right it is better when the pollution thats generated on a daily basis blows away and disperses elsewhere.

The BBC had a 75 minute special which I viewed on the 'Net several years ago, that rebutted ALL of Al Gore's b*ll sh*t. Don't know if you can still find it.

The annoying thing about global warming/climate change or macroclimatology in general is that we won't have any real idea about what's actually happening until possibly centuries in the future. In the late '70s and early '80s everyone was panicking over possible global cooling.

Exactly. It's all foolishness. If you can convince people that CO2 is poisonous, you can convince them of anything.

And there's not that much of it. Nominal atmosphere is 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen, and the last 1% comprises trace gases, of which CO2 is just a small part. And plants consume CO2 and give off oxygen as part of photosynthesis.

Problem is, you can't write it off completely. Nearly undetectable changes in any system have the potential to cause significant or even catastrophic effects later on. A system as complex as an ecosystem is nearly impossible to model or predict reliably, so we go on best guesses and try to minimize the negative impact of our actions. In theory. Throw human behavior, economics and politics into the mix and you have a snarl that basically can't be unraveled.

And now, since I don't have enough evidence on hand to back up my opinions, which are fairly confused and mixed on this issue anyway, I'm making a conscious decision to stop yammering on this subject and try to avoid further hijacking of this thread. It generally turns out that everyone's wrong in the end, anyway.
